Gameplay perfection without leaderboards

OlliOlli2's gameplay is a combination of timing, precision and going with the flow. Everything is based on correct timing, reading the levels and keeping your combo going. The controls are easy to learn and hard to master. Flick the left stick to start a trick, hold to grind and A-button to land a trick. There are advanced techniques to extend your combo between grinds like manuals. The skill ceiling is extremely high. There are 50 levels in total: 25 stages with a normal and hardcore mode (changes the level up to be way more challenging). This might not seem like a lot, but since the game is so hard and focused on getting highscores it actually is quite substantial. No level feels the same, which is important for a game of this kind. Every level has 5 challenges including but not limited to: highscore goals, tricks to pull off, completing the level in one big combo and grinding along alternate routes. Alongside these 50 levels there a bunch of very short levels which last about 10-20 seconds. These are purely for getting a score as high as possible on a very short track. There is also a new local multiplayer mode called Combo Rush, but I haven't tried it yet. Every mechanic is explained in 13 comprehensive tutorial stages. OlliOlli2 is a step up from the original game in every way: - More tricks - More varied levels - Better animations - Environments are way prettier (especially after the first world) - Soundtrack is as good as ever - UI is a lot better A must-buy for any highscore junkie! (As of now the GOG version does not have leaderboards, which is disappointing to say the least.)

It's like THPS

I've been waiting for a modern / 2-D take based (roughly) on the idea of the Tony Hawk games, and I think I've finally found it. OlliOlli 2 basically mastered all of this on a 2-D playing field to a tee - manuals, reverts, awesome grinds, flip tricks, and even modifiers to throw in a curveball. The only difference between this and THPS's system is the obvious grab tricks, but I honestly don't care. It's all street skating and no vert with OlliOlli 2, but the challenges and 'spots' really make for a killer game. I can't wait to see if they'll make another with a couple of halfpipes, though!

Gamer with God-Like reactions.. welcome!

OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood is probably one of the best 2d skating indie out-there ( not a lot of competitions, mind you). Basically, this game allows the true believers of the ''skater'' culture to express themselves at ''muzzle'' velocity: everything is played fast and with style. There are TONS of tricks, stances and everything feels authentic and made by someone that truly understands the discipline ( I am a skater myself, you know). This, however, is what could potentially alienate a lot of potential gamers: some tracks must be played a LOT ( at least, this is what I found out playing at my skill level.. and general reflexes) in order to proceed. Besides that, graphics are colourful and the music is enjoyable enough. So, this game is a true 360 degree of yes, (especially for any skater-gamer out there).. however, I hope you love games that required a good amount of reflexes, if not... well I would say try it out but could be frustrating.

Can't remap the controller buttons

The soundtrack is good but I didn't do much in the game as there is no way to change the buttons on a controller

Addictive

I found the game very addictive. Most of it comes down to muscle memory. I played with a keyboard, so I don't know how much easier it would be to play with a controller.
