Ocean's Heart Review

I normally don't play many Zelda-like games on PC, but Ocean's Heart really hit the spot in terms of old-school feel, vibe and gameplay. Developer Max Mraz has created a fantastic game that draws inspiration from the old Zelda titles like Link to the Past and Link's Awakening but adds a totally fresh outlook on the action RPG genre that we know and love so much! The story is simple to understand and very light-hearted. The characters/main and NPCS' are likable, with most of them dropping hints on how to reach or find hidden items and quests. What I found extremely rewarding was how detailed and easy to follow the main/side quest logs are. As with many Zelda-like titles, the puzzles are present in many of the dungeons. Some are very easy, but some will have you scratching your head on what to do next. Ultimately, they are not overly complicated to complete. If you're looking for a Zelda-like title with great pixel graphics, enjoyable gameplay and fun story then look no further than Ocean's Heart! Oh and the music/soundtrack is superb as well. Has Potential, If They Fix It

This game looked very promising from what I saw in the trailer, however, we experienced a few issues after we decided to purchase the game. First of all, the game looks very charming, and appears to have a very nice story and pixel-art style, but it they didn't quite perfect the menu styles and font choices. It doesn't look like they put a lot of thought into the little things, which add up rather quickly. We also had a major issue with the game in regards to a blurry/screentearing effect whenever the main character was walking. Now that I've played the game I can actually spot this problem in the trailer, but it feels so much worse during gameplay. Never in my life have I felt nauseous while playing a 2D game, but this one made me want to hurl.

Promising

I haven't finish the game yet, i just have 5 hearts, so it's not a full review. The environment and the sound track are really nice, the story and the character are likable , you can fin here and there some humor. But there is some issue here and there and most of them are about the combat mechanics, Hit-box issue, IA, sound issue (spam the boomerang and the sound will overlay), or level design issue, in many occasion i was able to find a safe spot and just stay their and spam an attack until the enemies or the boss died. So yeah as a fan of Link's Awakening DX (GBC version) i love the environment and as a gamer i have the feeling that most of the problem encountered can be address in an update. PS : For the Linux user, just install GOG galaxy by Lutris and download/install it, you can have a black screen until the main menu.

Should be able to play on ubuntu and mac

@blueatomix Then game can be played on linux and macOS (also raspberry pi but I don't know about this one stability). This game uses the unmodified solarus game engine. All it requires is to get the player package for your platform were: https://www.solarus-games.org/en/solarus/download and copy the data.solarus file to the root of were you installed the engine. I could run it on ubuntu, did not try with mac (I down own one).

Great game

I really enjoyed this one. Feels like an old Zelda game. Even the themes will stay in your ears for a while. BUT: Please fix the german texts. In some dialogs, where you have to choose "yes" or "no", the "yes" option just doesnt work because it is out of screen. For all the germans out there: Just go back to the main menu, change the language to english and it will work. You can change it back to german after that without any problems. Also there were some more minor bugs. But I think it is fine as this was made by a seemingly small team and has just been released.
