Doesn't work on Windows 10
There are a lot of reviews prazing this game. Too bad it crashes after the opening cinematic.

An excellent action/RPG hybrid with very unique gameplay. Your name is Jack Mower, a 20th century dude who just happened to be sucked into the world of Nox via his TV set. The world is in danger and you have to save it! But before you embark on your epic journey you must choose your path: warrior, wizard, or conjurer.
Choose the path of a warrior, and you will be able to equip and use all manner of swords, battle-axes, war hammers, and chakrams - though you’ll leave the magical mumbo-jumbo up to the Conjurer and Wizard classes. An enchanted weapon is the closest a Warrior gets to magic but that’s OK, because magic is for sissies.
As a Wizard you will explore the mystical art of spell casting, ranging from enemy-confounding illusions to devastating displays of metaphysical force. You’ll also learn to set magical traps containing deadly spell combinations to thwart the unsuspecting foe. Although you’ll have to renounce the use of ungainly swords and armor in the name of your art, you will still be able to wield a staff as a last-ditch physical defense.
If you choose a Conjurer you will be able to magically charm and summon creatures to do your bidding. You can even create a magical creature called a bomber which can wreak sorcerous havoc on your enemies. You’ll also get plenty of experience wielding staves and bows to fend off the few enemies who manage to slip past your minions.

finally i get to play this game
in the long distant past of the early 2000s i got a burned disk with Nox on it. i would start to play it for a while, get stuck doing something, usually school related, and forget about it until my computer died. wound up doing this twice before i lost the disk. but noww i can finally finish the darn thing and enjoy it. it does have some issues, mostly being as old as it is there are some graphical problems that need modded to work right but are fairly easy fix.

Childhood classic
You start as an average dude living in a trailer park and get sucked into a world where you become a hero. The isekai before isekais. There were the typical 3 classes, wizard, ranger, and warrior. You got to pick your t-shirt color, pants, and shoes. While pointless it was so cool back when it came out. The game is a bit hard but worth it. you get so many powerful spells and abilities and it did a good job making it feel that way. You could end up blasting yourself pretty easily. As a wizard you were basically scared of your own strength and it taught me patience for sure. Warrior would just demolish everything. The ranger could summon and make traps and such. The pvp in multiplayer was always a blast too. If you like older rpgs that kinda just throw the game at you, you will probly enjoy it.

Take it from a 10-year D2 addict...
I played Diablo 2: LOD consistently for about 10 years. I also played Nox quite a lot during that time and still believe that it is a more creative and enriching RPG experience. From what I recall, it has a bit of a Terry Pratchett style and I preferred the story and gameplay. Unfortunately for Nox, Diablo 2's online multiplayer was far more popular (never-ending trading/grinding, clans and PVP, etc.) even though the modding and PVP in Nox was pretty epic. I wouldn't disagree with anyone who claims that Nox is the better game...

A hidden gem.
Nox got something going for it that very few games can replicate. Just remember to patch the game after buying or you'll get a start screen that flickers.
