The kind of game i dreamed of as a kid
As a huge Science Fiction nerd since Childhood, who ALWAYS dreamed about exploring strange new worlds and flying through space in my own spaceship and encountering aliens and gaining friendships with them, i always wished there was a videogame where could do just that. Having grown up in the 16 bit, 32 bit and 64 bit console era (i never had a PC until december 2001 or so) i always wondered why there wasn't any game like that and even games like Wing Commander, Colony Wars Vegance or Starlancer where still very basic space shooters but you could never land anywhere or exit your spaceship or just fly around as you please and explore the vastness of the planets and solar systems. No Man's Sky is THE game for you if you ever wanted that. I can't believe how amazingly good this game is. Especially since you are not forced to go a certain way to finish missions and not being allowed to go elsewhere instead. It is always up to you which way to go and if you rather gather some materials instead and trade with aliens, getting better and bigger or stronger spaceships, shooting asteroids or warping into a different Solar System instead and setting up bases on all the new planets you discovered. There is so much to do and to explore, at the time of writing this review i have put over 50 hours of playtime into this game and don't even feel like i have scratched the surface. The procedually generated universe guarantees you that you probably never see the exact same worlds like everyone else who plays this game. So there is a good chance this will be a game that will keep you busy for years to come. The only thing that really bothers me (and that is definitely only because of my hardware) is the mixed performance. I get super smooth framerates on space stations and asteroid shooting sessions but while walking around planets, my framerate often goes really low. It's a quite demanding game. Keep that in mind. And my System is a Asus ROG GR6.
