This was, all in all, a great game. It was funny, and, unexpectedly, moving at times, and reminded me of the great classic adventure games. The voice acting was great, the characters were relatable, length was perfect. I am unfortunately bad at properly expressing the good things, so I will just explain why I didn't give it five stars:
The licking mechanic, which I understand was intended as a fun gimmick, just didn't work. The only time I needed to look for hints was because I didn't consider it was needed. It reminds me of the end of Simon the Sorcerer 2, where you have the "wear" option, unused for so long you don't even consider it. The other thing that just left a bad taste was the "marijuana leads to hard drugs" parallell. You could argue that that is not what nip is, etc, but I feel it is really obvious. It has long been disproven, and is really out of place in such a recent game. The "random crazy" character, too, left a sour taste, initially. While there was some dialogue that tried to offset it, and later events "explained it", a "crazy homeless dude" that spouts nonsense is also something that I feel we should have left in the past by now. The dialogues were a bit long running at times, and while enjoying it, I found myself clicking through it after reading the text a lot of the time, and walk speed got annoying when you were going back and forth, especially in areas where you had to get across the screen before being able to double click to get to the next area, or where you couldn't do that, but those two last points are seriously minor. The first three are the things that kept this from being five stars, otherwise, it was really great. Definitely recommended.
