Let's be honest, my only problem with this module is that it costs money. The movement problems due to poor placement, endless texts to make up for the lack of proper cutscenes, messed up journal entries if your henchmen die, the bugged events and dialogues, the anticlimatic ending, the total lack of immersion since nobody really has any personality, the lack of the feeling of your "meaningful choices"... Honestly these could be all forgiven since the story itself is honestly not that bad at all. Almost a waste to pour this writing into the module as it is, since a short story would have been much better. Yes I say short story, since this is nowhere near the promised 10 hours of gameplay. The only planescape content you find here is some mild references and lingo that is another problem in itself. Not sure what else to say since I don't want to spoil the content itself, buy it as cheap as you can since besides the cinematic intro it really does feel like someone's first try at making a module. That is fine. Selling it for money is not, though.

Broken game, critical progression bugs

Do not buy Dark Dreams of Furiae! This add-on has been released with no quality control whatsoever! It suffers from quite a few critical progression bugs. I won't bother explaining where and how simply because this is not worth my time.

D&D goes P&C

Although this one's kind of short, it does something you don't find often in D&D games. This one goes more into the realm of a point & click than the typical combat-filled D&D adventure. Based on a module used in tabletop games, it's heavy on story and investigation. It really does feel like playing a module led by a DM who prefers to have the characters investigate and ask the right people the right questions to advance the very P&Cish story. Along with the Point and Click feel, the adventure also has a strict time system. The investigation changes depending on who you ask, and on which day. You need to talk to everyone and learn as much as you can. Some will answer your questions, others will hide the information, and others will openly attack you in the streets if you ask the wrong questions. If you like games like Shadowrun Returns which are Point And Clickers with RPG elements, you'll probably like this one. I am enjoying it because I've been clamoring for a D&D themed point-and-click for years, and this one looks like it delivers that type of experience now. As far as NWN modules go, this is pretty much as far as you can get from the Friday-night dungeon feel of Infinite Dungeons. It's basically the other side of the spectrum. It's also great to finally have a module in a different part of the universe from Forgotten Realms.

Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus

I absolutely love the idea of new Dungeons and Dragons adventures being turned into Neverwinter Nights modules. I will happily buy anything that is in the 10 hour range, or more, at this price. Some people will probably disagree, or see it as "gouging for mod content", but that is not what this is. I love how polished the campaigns have been, and how I can easily enjoy them without putting effort into getting them to run. Sure, when I was younger I didn't mind putting effort into getting more out of a game title, but now I have so many options that trading a small cost for the convenience of it being available and in working order have outweighed the effort to save that coin. I want more stories, more adventures, and I appreciate getting them. As for this particular adventure, I am about 4 hours into it and have really enjoyed the investigation aspect of it. The story allows you to be on one of two sides to an internal conflict plaguing the city; and you can choose to side with the rule of law, or choose to aid the rebels to overthrow tyranny. It's an age old tale, but this one is told through interacting with people and accepting the correct people into your aid to accomplish your end-goal. The day-night cycle forces you to plot out your daily investigations to make sure you are in the right place at the right time for your story to unfold the way you want. The only way to be sure of where things are going down is to talk to everyone, break into buildings, read secret documents, learn the spoken codes among citizens, and then bring all of it together. Some people will need to be spoken to persistently to get them to loosen up; some people will get suspicious and attack you, making it harder to do business with their associates. What you get is a new module, designed for early-game characters, with an interesting take on adventuring. It offers multiple story-options, and major interactive choices along the way. If you are looking for more D&D, you found it.

Beamdog is a joke- and not a funny one.

Beamdog has ruined every game that they've "enhanced" or created on their own. Look for the old titles on CD for a much better experience.
