I was really hyped to get Bannerlord II, and when I did, it was a total let down. Warband is so much better a game in many respects. While it's graphics may not be as great as M&B2, the gameplay is far superior. I found myself uninstalling Bannerload 2 and installing Warband again.
This is my rainy day autism game. I played the demo for years (with a mysterious file added) then bought on Steam ,then I HAD to have it here so I could never lose it. Infinite fun. Just stab some dudes, maybe run a trade caravan, become a knight, declare wars, hunt down bandits, burn down villages. Then there are a ton of unique and interesting mods.
I'll play Bannerlord someday, maybe, when it's five bucks like this is on sale.
This is a unique Game. It is an RPG where you are directly involved in the battle which you command a small group of troupes much like a TOTAL WAR battle. There is even a simulation component since you can buy businesses in each of the cities you travel through. I usually play as a trader and build up a competent mercenary crew to support me as I move from one dangerous area to another. But you can also play as soldier who commits to a certain warlord and works his way up to king of one of the kingdoms. I have a 90BG004TUS LENOVO with 12 gigs of memory but it uses only a small portion of the memory. This game works very well as you move about firing your bow or swinging an Axe or Sword or mounted on a Warhorse doing the same. If you are a person who enjoys RPGs, you will enjoy this game. I have played it several times in Windows 10 without a single problem.
This is the only game I know of which is a LIVING WORLD, open-world sandbox RPG. What do I mean by living world? The game plays itself, and you are just one more cog on the wheel. Not only are you not special, with the same rules applying to everybody in the world, but the NPCs deal with each other exactly the same as with you.
Get one to hate you and his friends will dislike you, too. Help somebody and his enemies will tell you that you should have let him "learn his lesson". And so on. But it's not just a tidbit of dialogue. Everything has ramifications. You've failed a few tasks too many, you won't get to be Marshall, commanding the armies, and your capacity to effect change ni the world will be limited. Etc, etc, etc. It's infinite.
The combat system has everythin an excellent action game should have: skill-based, easy to learn, and difficult to master. As such, you will be perfecting your combat skills for a LONG TIME, even though there is a lot of combat in this game.
Nowhere else cna you charge through the morning fog with your cavalry, knowing that somewhere ahead is the enemy army and a clash of steel, crunch of bones, screams of pain await just ahead. It's simply exhilarating.
And there are dozens of fantastic mods. Enough to keep you busy for 10,000 hours. The graphics are relatively simple for 2020 but they hold up very well, keeping this game as relevant as it was 10 years ago. Sure, Bannerlord is in Early Access, but it'll be a while until it's as feature-complete as this.
In the meanthime, I'm playing the best game ever made.
First off, I don't understand all of the five star ratings people are handing out. I don't know if it's just me, but this game is pretty buggy. It crashes on me. Not soo often that it's unplayable, but it is annoying. Once when I was fighting in the arena, I was up against a guy that had a bunch of javelins stuck in his shield that were thrown at him, and when he got close to me the game started counting all the stuck javelins as attacks on me that I couldn't block.
The combat also feels a lot clunkier than in the first mount & blade game. They made combat on horseback harder, it's very difficult to direct your attacks while still being able to focus where you're looking. When you're trying to couch your lance you can't adjust your view to look down it. If you try the lance just swings over to the other side of your horse. It does help if you switch to first person view, but it's a pain to keep changing view. I think that there's just an inherent flaw in using the same controls for directing your sight also for choosing the direction of your attack.
I do like all of the new stuff that they added to the game, like businesses, but combat isn't half as fun as it was in the first.
Overall, it's still a pretty solid game that you can really sink some time into. It's just not as good as I was hoping it would be.
