Grind and jank aside, there is nothing else like a Mount and Blade game, and Bannerlord is undisputably the best one yet. Its uniqueness alone makes it worth playing. To talk about it that way is to do it a disservice though; the true marvel of Bannerlord is that it actually delivers on what is an astonishingly ambitious concept. The two halves of the game complement each other perfectly. It may be on a slow boil, but once it gets up a head of steam, you won't be able to put it down.

My return to Calradia wasn't entirely jubilant, though Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord is a game I'll likely stick with, simply due to my love of the original. A wealth of new systems and activities help this sandbox strategy sim feel more alive than ever, though the busywork required to get anywhere can feel like a grind. Overall, existing fans will rejoice while newcomers may look on unimpressed, unsure what all the fuss is about.

It's fine
Got this for free, because I bought the game back when it was still in EA. It's an alright piece of software, you have some music, some concept arts, a stylised map of (Bannerlord's) Calradia, but the real treat is the 'Travels in Calradia' journal, which can be either read, or listened to as an audiobook. It follows the adventures of one Asaios (a journal-exclusive character) as he travels across the land, gathering information for the Imperial Bureau for Barbarian Affairs. The cool thing about the journal is that it expands the world with some lore that's not found in the game. However, the Digital Companion feels underwhelming, even for its price. - The soundtrack is only ten tracks, which cannot be listened to outside of the program (nor have I found a way to extract them; seriously, let's pester GOG to make the actual soundtrack purchasable here). - There are only about 10-12 concept arts, and however nice they may be, they're not all that great. - The map is alright, I suppose, though I really don't care for it. - The journal has two main issues for me: 1) the narrator sounds like an old man, whereas Asaios is supposed to be in his early 20's. 2) Several titbits in the journal contradict what is actually established in the game (though you might not even notice). So yeah, if you didn't get it for free for buying the game in EA, and really want a collectable, get it, otherwise, don't, because you're not missing out on much. (I'm not really sure if it ever goes on sale)

do not buy this game
At start the game was good and enjoyable, but then the developers ruined it buy adding annoying features like Order of Battle, making the game tedious and extremely annoying. ignoring the fans critique in the forums and believing in their mind that they created the perfect game. I uninstalled it two years ago. There are so many good games out there I suggest not to buy this game or any other game from Tale-world.
