Mortal Kombat 4

I have never used GOG up to this point, but after the announcement of the Mortal Kombat legacy collection, I was surprised to see a dinky little website along with having new AAA releases had a game as old as MK4, and with a price point of $1.49, I couldn't turn this down! This is a good arcade fighter that while many see as being overwhelming as previous entries, can still be the source of tons of fun, with snappy controls and funny voice clips. Visually it hasn't aged well, and the need for third party software to use dpads on controllers is annoying, but overall I would still pick this up if it were under five dollars.

Mortal Kombat 4 is the greatest piece of media to ever be created. The stunning visuals, amazing story, and great voice acting in the cutscenes makes this game an experience that trancends the comprehension of man. This game was so good that I had to stop playing mere minuets after starting. I could not recommend Mortal Kombat 4 enough.

My first time ever playing it after watching average reviews and I think not only is the game fun but also a great port. However using a controller I found the D-pad to not work properly, so I used steam big picture's desktop mode to reconfigure the controls and found other commands not working properly. I resorted to using steam's controller companion which worked perfectly but unfortunately is not for sale on steam anymore. I've been on some forum's about this version with controlllers and there is quite a few different controller apps to download to fix the problem so it's no issue but it's something to be aware of.

It has everything Mortal Kombat should. Ridiculous blood spattering and bone crunching moves. Variety and flashy moves. Fatalities, and the first introduction of the MK character weapons system that appeared in later games too. Interactive stages and items (you can pick up objects and weapons and use them!) The only gripe I have is that it is like many retro games it's hard to get the same look and feel from these games. The 3D models have depth issues and the 2D assets scale horrendously bad. The 3DFX filtering is flawed for the fonts and 2D assets adding black lines and otherwise making them look 'melted' by over smoothing the sharp edges. See my forum post for a couple of notes on how to disable this if you don't mind a pure pixelated look.

游戏其实蛮带感的。但是手头的两种手柄都无法有效支持。且游戏中无法设置键盘的键位。（可能可以修改配置文件但实在是麻烦而且这个游戏在大陆基本没人讨论所以。。。） 除非有时间愿意折腾的玩家可以外网找一找手柄设置软件。因为我在评论区看到其他玩家有提到控制器的问题。 游戏就不退款了，等某年某月一个机遇再来体验这个游戏吧。
