The destroyer is walking the land once again. The legendary Planeswalker Escaton has been seen in Jadame and the very elements themselves have felt his presence. In the four corners of the world, gates to the planes of Fire, Air, Earth and Water have opened and denizens of those realms are sweeping across the lands, devastating all in their path. Lead a band of rugged adventurers on a mission of utmost peril to save the kingdoms from ruin, or watch as the lands are devastated forever.
WAS, about to go and find the hard case copies or box copies, no need i picked all these up for £6 on sale which is a bargian, im 25 but as a kid at age 8 i remember my mother allowing my one day to do what ever i wanted, which was to actually play this all day, with breaks of course!!! amazing games, wish now they did another in this style instead of what they did to mmx legacy...
Might and Magic 8 is the first in the series I've ever played and is very similar to M&M 6 and M&M 7 both graphically and gameplay wise. Just like those games the beginning of every adventure is very difficult and at some point after class and skill upgrades tips over to the easy side.
M&M 8 is unique in the way that you start off with only one character. Your team mates you can pick up during the quest and switch out if needed. The class/race system is fully removed, but in return you get awesome character choices, like dragons, minotaurs and vampires (back when they were cool).
I cannot recall the story (I played it 10 years ago), but the upgrade quests are excellent. I can distinctly recall the quest where you had to retrieve the Lich jar to upgrade your Necromancers to Liches. Good times. :)
If you like RPG's and grand adventures, this deserves your attention.
It's ok, though it does introduce some fundamental changes,
For example, this is the only MM game where you start with 1 character and add others as you find them while adventuring.
It also is the only MM game where you can actually have a dragon character, even 2 if you wish. Once levelled these dragons are extremely powerful.
I still own might and magic VIII but due to the engine in the game it would not play. $5.99 was such small price to bring back some of my favourite gaming memories. It to this day has some of the best Alchemy mechanism of any RPG and Arcomage is a awesome mini game.
I loved this game growing up.
Family bonding time? M&M VIII
Bored on a friday night? M&M VIII
Lose at another game? M&M VIII
That being said, was it a super amazing game with epic grapics and rock hard plot? No, but that didn't stop the fun or love.
I'm excited to see this game on here since its been years since I played (windows 98 caught on fire, literally). So fingers crossed for it working.
