To experience great adventures, you’ll have to take a step back in time.Might and Magic VII - For Blood and Honor brings back the fantasy role-playing genre with an enhanced game engine and thrilling gameplay. It brings to life a fantasy world replete with fearsome dragons, horrifying monsters and exotic races. This game has everything the experienced role-player desires, including new character classes, skills, spells, magic items and a compelling story that will keep you absorbed for hours on end. Might and Magic VII - For Blood and Honor brings to life the most fantastic, engrossing and intense role-playing experience ever created.
Great game! It has old mechanics and maybe it could be hard to enjoy it if you come from the modern era, but if you lose a bit of your time learning how it works, you will love it. One of my favourite RPGs of all time.
Just bought the whole Might and Magic series since they were all on sale. This one is my favorite though. The story keeps me more focused in this game than it did in MM6 (I love MM6 too though), but you can still wander off wherever you want. Graphics are dated obviously, but the game play and freedom is better than most modern RPGs.
Also, Arcomage is not a half bad card game. It's sort of just a throwaway thing they added into the game, but it is as good or better than some card games I have played that cost money. Too bad Arcomage is buggy in this GoG version, the sound is all messed up. Not that big a deal, even in the original, Arcomage would crash my computer sometimes.
Love this one for nostalgia reasons. I remember first playing it and thinking that I had to kill the dragon on the starter island. I must have died and reloaded a hundred times before I figured out a way to beat the dragon with low level starter heroes without any deaths. When I started playing this again the other day, it took a few trys, but I still remembered how to kill it. Great game.
I loved this game from the day I first played it back when I had a computer that had the Windows 98 OS and a huge 20MB Hard drive, hahaha. We've come so far since then but this game is the best of its series and one of the best RPGs I've ever played. It's not complicated but it's definitely strategy driven. The lesson is simple: use strategy or die. It has an intriguing storyline as well with some interesting twists. The character combinations affect how easy or how hard the game is. It's something to play with and have fun while you're doing it. I suggest this game for anyone who loves a good challenge and a good story-driven RPG. It's definitely one of the top 10 in my book and I have played many RPGs over the years...something I still do, even the modern ones. My opinion isn't relegated to RPGs of the past, but also from experience of the current popular RPGs, and I still say this game is one of the greats.
Like many of these older RPGs nostalgia colors my opinion of the game quite a bit, but I actually went back and reinstalled this game after playing a modern RPG that just wasn't doing it for me. The contemporary gamer's definition of an RPG usually just means that you get xp for killing monsters and while this is true in Might and Magic this game has so much more to it. There's exploration, side quests, plot for good and evil characters, dialogue, dungeons and exceptionally brutal traps.
I started my Might and Magic love with Mandate of Heaven, so I know that I'm not as old school as some other Might and Magic fans out there, but I loved For Blood and Honor the minute I started playing it. My brother and I really appreciated how you can switch races for your characters at character creation. Character creation is a fun experience on its own; I still flip through the game manual trying to decide which character, race and class combinations are the strongest and most capable to fit all situations. Also you can play a female character which, even in this day and age, is not a guarantee.
I still have not beaten For Blood and Honor despite playing many hours of it as many different characters of various alignments and race. I hope to do so this summer.
