A very underrated and misunderstood game
Pacific Assault deserves far more credit than it got, I thought was mostly an improvement over Allied Assault for things like: Your character can now carry 2 weapons which is more realistic, AA was insane you can carry all the guns available is he a human or a truck? Enemies are no longer insanely accurate as they were in AA. You can now lean and prone which is very helpful, it always annoyed me that in AA enemies could go prone but you couldn't? Iron sights have been included meaning that you have aim now and no longer run and gun with perfect accuracy. The game also has a lot more emphasis on teamwork and tactics instead of running and gunning. Medkits are much more rare and you have to rely on your corpsman to heal you but only a few times until the next level. And best of all you can pick up enemy weapons (thank God!) Now I'm not trying hate on Allied Assault it's still a great game but it does have some problems that people either don't remember or don't talk about them. It sucks that everyone just simply ignore how Pacific Assault improves the faults of AA and instead focus on the game's problems.

More FPS nostalgia!
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is a solid WWII FPS from 2004 that runs great on modern hardware and will transport you back to your youth, when you had much more time to play games! Google, and you'll find some simple config file changes to support widescreen resolutions without needing mods. The graphics are improved over Allied Assault (which you would expect, as the game came out two years later), and the sound effects and music create a great atmosphere as you battle the Japanese forces in the Pacific Theatre. I didn't find the missions as varied and interesting as Allied Assault, which is why this is only a 4/5 star review. After training, the first mission in Pearl Harbour can be difficult, as you need to make your way through a ship and the route through the decks is not at all obvious. Add in burning steam and fires as the ship takes damage and this can be challenging to get through!

Play Allied Assault instead
Has some good ideas for the time, but completely fumbles the execution. The shooting feels unresponsive and slow, the game tries to make a big deal about the characters but doesn't do anything with them, the story insists on itself but doesn't really go anywhere either, and the pacing is really bad. For the pacing: The game has ~4 big levels, but they're all split up into smaller levels by loading screens, and these levels all have similar objectives and scenery, so it all drags on and feel really pointless. Also: The squad command system is weird. It gives you the option to give commands to your squad, but I never felt the need to do so, the commands didn't seem to do anything when I did use them, and you're not actually in charge of the squad at any point in the game, so why can you give commands in the first place? Overall, I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but not enough to recommend it. Like the title says, go play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault instead. If you want even more 2000s WW2 FPS games, try the early Call of Duty games (COD 1, COD 2, and United Offensive), I wish that I'd played them instead tbh

Don't know how this one passed me by back in the day. Love the MoH series and have replayed SO many times. But never knew about this! Showed up in a sale and I'm loving it
