I remember years ago not having a PC good enough to play this, the frame rate would drop to about 5 FPS and I could get through about half of the campaign before it would pack in completely. And since I've gone back plenty of times to finish it every 5 years or so.
This is a game from my childhood, and while nostalgia is there, it’s far from the only reason I love it. The game itself is crafted brilliantly, and for the time it was released, I can’t call it anything less than a masterpiece."
This was the first serious shooter of my childhood. And I do have to admit, it didn't age that much - weapons sounds way better than in modern games, and the music is ear worms everywhere.
Though I would not call it the best MoH of all time, because it still has a million things that would never be given a free pass nowadays - like no precision aiming (which already was available at the time), or... ESPECIALLY... Enemies that don't die after getting hit 20 times in the chests. This gets especially infuriating in Breakthrought. Literally a thousand enemies to kill, lack of ammonition and Computer being a cheating bastard every five seconds. Great Fun, isn't it?
But I have to admit, what makes it so unique is that even on mission that are a memory test, the game still forces you to go slowly and gives you those rare moments to take a break. I miss these in modern games so much.
One of the best FPS, WWII themed games I ever played. I was looking around so much, to buy this game but couldn't find any info until I thought of stopping by GoG to check it out. Am happy to say now I own a GoG account thanks to this game being here. The game itself is a classic, old school FPS, with the feel and the atmosphere of the time, and although is not a "modern FPS" I think it's better than most games out there. Like I said in the title, classics never die.
