4X 5-Star pefection
It's hard not to mention Master of Orion when talking about 4X games. This is it - the best there is. Worked in the tiniest detail it's one hell of a game with hours of enjoyment and a rather steep learning curve. It's a simply "Must-have" in every strategist collection - detailed diplomacy, espionage, macro and micro management, tactical battles and heroes/administrators to manage. Simply compelling.

Great Game, all children should play it!
Master of Orion was one of the original games I ever played when I was first starting to know computers. I played this game endlessly and still go back for more. Even though its graphics are outdated, the finesse with which this game allows you to play is total. I have never seen another game that is simple and easy yet so strategic and fun. Technology trees that aren't always the same add spice to the game that isn't around in the newer games anymore. This also probably sparked my love of science fiction!

I loved MOO2 for years and missed it. Many thanks for GOG's inclusion of MOO2. However, I've not been able to get to Antares. I max all the research as creative and still no Dimensional Portal. any hints?

Cool but a bit dated
In my opinion, MOO1 is here as an added bonus, it is the second part that is worth your time. The game is still a fun romp, however, the dated graphics, low resolution and somewhat simple mechanics have diminished its value somewhat. I bought it, but mostly for nostalgia's sake - I would not recommend it new players although at this price point it would not be a disastrous purchase by any means.
