Best game ever!

I can't imagine the graphics of MoM being any worse. The music is not great. The sound effects are horrible. None of this matters because taken as a whole, this game is the best combination of everything I love in games! Awesome fantasy world with amazing monsters and races and magic? Check! Perfectly simple turn-based combat without all the added fluff of modern games? Check! Master of Magic is all the best parts of Civilization in a wonderful fantasy setting. Added all up, this is my favorite game of all time.

Legendary Old Game

I've returned to this game time and time again over the years after first playing it while I was in college. I love the high fantasy setting with the wide variety of races to choose from and their different traits. Heroes are another big favorite of mine...exploring the numerous monster lairs in search of treasure often takes higher precedence for me than having them lead my armies against opposing wizards. To me, the game feels like playing your way through a David Eddings or Weiss/Hickman fantasy novel. Though the game could benefit from a more customizable random world generator (like some of the Civilization games) the one it has is good enough. It's a shame Microprose never made MoM 2. Regardless, I've returned to this game time and time again over the last 17 years and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Excellent!

I loved this game years ago when it came out...Your Borders are WEAK! Great mix of magic the gathering card game and turn based tactical games.. Had awsome skills abilitys and upgrades ..A True Master piece that even now is one of the best strargy games i have played..Graphics are dated now but the game play is still there. Thanks GOG for bringing back yet another top game from the past :)

Best of it's era

Why hasn't anyone reworked this game for today's graphic standards? One of the best engineered games of all time. They really thought of everything.
