Mad Max

Half way through the game, out of no where, it started lagging like crazy. Pretty powerful PC. I won't be finishing this one if I can't find some sort of work around. From what I've found online, it's GOG's version that is problematic. Super fun

Let's drive car. Let's fist fight enemies. Let's hold E to loot scrap. Let's hold E to refill water. Repeat 100x. Dialogue outside of cutscenes basically doesn't exist. You can fight 20 enemies, clear the camp, nobody will say a word, not Max, not people that move in, nothing. It feels empty in the wrong way (Wasteland should be empty). It feels like there's nothing there, no conversations, no Max's monologue, no comments from random people, nothing, there is just nothing. Game feels like someone took 2 things (car driving and fist fighting) and copied that dozens of times. And then called it a day. And the camera shake. Oh my god the camera shake. I do poorly on shaking camera, get a bit nauseous. This game swaaaaaaays like you're drunk on a ship on high seas. you drive a car, camera is left, right, up, down, swaying like crazy. You fight, camera jumps as if this is crazy action movie, not something where you'd appreciate stability and control. Ugh, I'm done. Went with low expectations, but this is just terrible.

Well, after completing the game I'd rather say, it gets very boring and repetitive after 16 hours of playtime. There's 40+ hours of content to play, but, not much than 12 hours of real content as the game never reinvent itself. Several opportunities are missed. The Archangels car are useless. Character development is very thin. You are ruining the world of a super villain without never feeling you're the needle in his foot that he can't get rid of. Interactions between the Keeps could have led to a very strong political background between the factions and a very interesting story... instead it keeps evolving around and for the protagonist. Exploration isn't very rewarding. The game never twists its own mechanics. The battle system copies a lot of game of the genre, see Sleeping Dogs and Batman but it is *very* fun and it kept me playing. Getting rid of a gang by fighting is super rewarding. The car driving engine is okay, for a game revolving around driving, it felt very shallow and incomplete. I would have loved a lot more car customization. Car fighting is good. The sandstorms mechanic is good at the beginning but gets super annoying as you dive into the game, I would have faded this mechanic or kept it specific to some regions. I ended, saving my game and reloading it to skip them all the time, which isn't a good sign for a game mechanic. Games presentation is spectacular for the year of release, ambiance is spot on, runs at 4K 60fps+ on any decent modern video card. Music is good. The problem with this game only being, the game never comes together and it is weaker than the sum of its parts. It feels like an empty shell that cries for some love.

For me its a 4 star game, i just didnt want to leave a 4 star review and drop the average rating (current rating is 4.4/5) It has some frutrating moments, i found it a bit difficult at times with too many enemies and not enough hp. Story was ok, nothing too serious , just ok. The gameplay loop was also fine, i generally enjoyed the game.

if you like the mad max films then you will like this game was going to buy this on steam as i never thought gog would get this game on here which i am glad they did i would also like it if gog got batman arkham origins blackgate so i could complete the arkham set i have and it would also be great if gog could add dragon age 2 and dragon age inquisition and add a few more assassins creed games aswell
