Korean Puzzle Fairytale

I played the whole game on Linux using Wine and was able to fully complete it (there is one bugged level). It took me maybe 15 hours. This game contains puzzles and story of girl named Lynn. There is a lot of puzzles (maybe ~120?). The difficulty ranges from trivial to complex. The game presents new mechanics as you go. There are three parts: Lynn Story, Extra Story and Acorn Story. The Acorn story has slightly different game mechanic. According to the number of your moves, you get 1-3 orbs. There is 324 orbs to collect. The game contains hint system that can really help you to get all the orbs. There are few bugs. The progression is somewhat broken. It allows you to skip certain chapters without fully completing previous chapters (the problem is mainly present in Extra Story and Acorn Story). But if you are careful, you can just follow correct chapter numbers. The story is told in form of images, simple animation, Korean narration and puppetry. The setting is, I assume, during Choson dynasty during smallpox plague and introduces mythical creatures like Nine-tailed Fox and Dokkaebi. The music has traditional Korean themes (instruments like Haegeum, Geomungo and Daegeum). There is not enough music and it repeats too much. There are however song with singer which are really nice. If you like Korean folklore, puzzles, indie-games, you will like it. And you will learn Chinese numerals!

Too Repetitive

CAVEAT: Review written after playing roughly 10% of the game (see below). The game is a seemingly endless series of slider puzzles. I thought that I could grind it out by playing just a few puzzles at a sitting, but I couldn't last that long. Indeed, the artwork in Lynn is beautiful. In the typical adventure game the artwork is part of the puzzles, and you can admire the beautifully crafted artwork as you play. Unfortunately, in Lynn the artwork is just a brief interlude between the slider puzzles, where you will spend the vast majority of your time. In most adventure games you solve a puzzle and move on to a different location or to a puzzle of a different type. In Lynn, the "reward" for solving a slider puzzle is ... another slider puzzle. You might counter by suggesting that the modest price justifies the opportunity to play a large number of different slider puzzles. And in its defense, Lynn has slider puzzles of enormous complexity. IMHO, there are plenty of free spatial puzzles, including slider puzzles, if you need to scratch that itch.

Mostly fine but text problems in Wine

This is a good movement-based puzzle game. Not too easy, solvable by logic thinking and little testing. I have "finished" it on Garuda Linux with Wine 8 and higher. Beware, the text display is broken in cutscenes with Wine (not with Windows). The final instructions/notes of each chapter even show no text at all. Non-ascii characters are lost. Actually, I cannot 100% it due to a bug which exits bonus level 2-5 and 2-8 after the cutscene, making them unplayable. I believe, because I finished chapter 3 before chapter 1 and 2 (better finish them in order). Story-wise, it tells a tale full of typical Asian mythology/religion. An illness god makes a boy sick. His sister searches for a legendary deity being, a guard of nature who escaped into drawings, using the appearance of a special animal which later transforms into a human. The interesting take: domestic violence. A love story heavily gone wrong, all of a sudden turned into a murderous hunt of hatred. In my opinion, the story is cute and stupid funny at times. It has two bonus stories. The romantic-gone-wrong part is weird. Do not expect a deep or logical story. If you are looking for a rich story, this isn't it. The (German) translation is rather bad, not sure if automatic, glitches at least once into Spanish or something. The English language is fairly sophisticated, so I played in German. The art is splendid. The soundtrack is amazing. It's like Asian Culture plus a memory of Ape Escape and Kahoot's countdown theme. I really bought the soundtrack because some of the tracks are so catchy. Another downside are usability flaws. Numbers are written in Japanese and 1 means "0 moves left". You can only undo three moves for a rotting rubbish reason and afterwards need to redo all of the level. All voice acting seems to be Japanese(??). I recommend the game for the puzzles. The story can be entertaining for the moment. It has nice drawings. I wish, text would be working like in other games with Wine.

Programming Loss and Lack Control

Not only the very "almost unable to use" hover selecting, and after many times speed adjusts, the moving count locked into red and the character refused to move until restart the program. The animation is bitmap picture, super pixelated blured aliases. The translate is unfinished, just an abandoned GoG version. I hate sticksdog and stickdog thing atmost (as a Chinese), especially stuffs at this garbage quality.
