We make games live forever! Since 2008 we enhance good old games ourselves, to guarantee convenience and compatibility with modern systems. Even if the original developers of the game do not support it anymore.
This game will work on current and future most popular Windows PC configurations. DRM-free.
This is the best version of this game you can buy on any PC platform.
We are the only platform to provide tech support for the games we sell. If some issues with the game appear, our Tech Support will help you solve them.
Historical games and well worth playing but the port is, frankly, quite bad.
Aside the new menu being quite terrible you will encounter a number of problems with controller settings and support.
I was expecting some additional features in terms of savegames and graphics filters... nothing of nothing.
This is completely barebones.
I'm sad now.
Rememeber when the No.1 sale point of GOG was that you could buy old game...that would SIMPLY WORK on modern computers?
It all changed when Windows 10 came along. GOG was simply too lazy to adapt their games for Win10,
This "collection" is another example. Do you have Windows 10? Dont expect a game. Expect "DirectDraw" Errors. And if you fix those, expect "KSS Indirect Draw" Errors.
THIS GAME COLLECTION DOES NOT WORK!
but otherwise they aren't particularly good.
I say it is a fine collection, thogh could have been better. Also, the lack of controller support hurts.
Castlevania is... kinda boring, and has some bugs. Not GoG-version, I feel these were around all the time. I'm thinking about how the stairs work. Also, the hitboxes are far from perfect.
Otherwise it's a very long memory-game of avoiding the medusa-heads. Take out the meduse-heads, and everyone would beat this.
Also, it is obvious the game originaly lacked the P-lives. And likely the destroyable objects did not respawn. And you continued from where you died. But that way it would be an average game, and not a coin-eating arcade machine.
Oh, and nowhere is told how to use the items.
Contra makes itself hard through other methods, namely: a) spawns enemy within the screen so you have less space to manouver b) makes enemy respawn (kinda) c) the enemy spawning is semi-randomised, a feature that time did not use, and is the factor that makes the game "unlearnable", and roguelike-hard.
Also, you don't get infinite continues, what is just ridiculous on any level, especialy considering that the game was made for 2 players.
So to sum it up - they are not that special.
