Wonderful content - terrible edition

The goodies are not well organized and you can't understand exactly where each thing came from. Most of them come from Peasants Rebellion and Shattered Kingdom is left aside. The manual is a big mess. It seems to be digitized horribly from a scan of the original, containing terrible editing errors like huge disalignments and just a white background instead of the original page-like brown. There is also some big blunders like the Woodcutter's Hut text being copied into the Quarry page (and the correct Quarry text missing). From what I can imagine, the original was in German and the editor was given the task to translate and digitize it, but did it very poorly. GOG, please provide us the original German manuals too, they are just beautiful! Also, the sound library is completely disorganized. There are many repeated songs, there is no way to know exactly where the songs came from (released CD, game rip, game files, etc) and also, the Shattered Kingdom OST does not have a package although its songs are scattered around the existing albums. There are also other issues, like the animations having only 7 of them (why not all? why these 7 in particular?) In short: this edition is very bad, but as KaM provides some of the best artwork of all times, I still awarded this artwork collection a 3/5.

old but actualy hard to beat

i have played this game for more tan 10 years and only 2 years ago i beat the game (with no cheating) its a great platform stratagy game for people that like to take there time on a game. you can use the speed play option F8 to speed up for building, but it can crash your pc for some reason... i would say that the game itself is a 5 star game (they dont make these anymore) for gameplay vs time spend its a 3 star as it takes a LONG time to build town and army if you dont use speed option. for music and relact gameplay its a 3/4 star realy nice but also not many options. all and all a nice sollid game for 4 star rating. hope joymania would make sutch a game again but then for pc op nowadays.

Missing Cheats

The goodies claim to include cheats, which appear on the list, but are not downloadable. All of the other goodies are OK to download. Until GOG adds the correct download link, you'll have to search the internet for cheats.

Not beginer friendly

Knights and Merchants might not be beginer friendly for geting into real time strategy (RTS) games or I just don't have patience for this game and I don't like RTS games anymore even though I play J2ME version of some other RTS game in the past. At first I thought tutorial would give all the info (which wouldn't be enough) to make player figure out what to do, but turns out, player needs to manualy open tips or whatever they are called to learn about what to do and games gives those one by one, which I figured out after attempting first mission. So I tried tutorial again. Which seemed too long and thought I learned enough, so I didn't finish it. Then there's situation where I thought I don't have resources nor a way to get those resources to get knights in the first mision. In The Shattered Kingdom that is. The Peasants Rebellion - Didn't know where to start. And that is in non-HD version, which I guess is standard version or SD version for short. In HD version - every building is unlocked at start of the game. Maybe with which game would be easier but then it was too much info. And it seems HD version doesn't have The Peasants Rebellion campaign. So with this more or less I thinking it isn't beginer friendly to get into RTS games. Or I just don't have patience, well at least it probably plays in part but it isn't only the reasons. I only found out about fast forwarding out of the game, there's no control option or help in the game. Also pausing the game with same key which is default steam screenshoot key - F12 instead of esc? Plus even if I would manage to finish even first mission, after some time I probably would get burnout of RTS game, at least when binge play it, or whatever the term is. Well at least who are already into RTS games than they most likely would like it so they can get it. Maybe having open mind about RTS games beginers would like it.
