Good with rough edges

For the most part i really liked the game. The combat is good and the story/quests are fine as well, albeit nothing to brag about. I agree that the horse movement is a bit clunky so i only used it when traveling from point A to B on roads, not when exploring rough terrain looking for loot, but i think that fits thematically so i didnt really mind it. I really disliked the paladin (started with it and switched to warrior after like an hour - she just has the most obnoxios personality, enjoyed the story/quests alot more after). The biggest issue for me was that you got locked into a choice if you follow a matching morality path. There are also a couple QoL changes that i would have liked to see. You can only track 1 quest at a time, only have 1 (unnamable) marker on the map, no sorting system for inventory ... Overall i really liked the game but it certainly has some issues. I have played all the previous games in the series and i dont get the hate this game gets. I really liked the previous games to, though to be honest they were all just a copy of the legend with a new storyline and a couple of new units. Say what you will about this one at least its an actual new game.

Fun game to play

I played as sorceress and I must say it was quite an adventurer. I started the game twice. First I made errors when building my character. I had to few talent points to buy the highest finesse abiliy. Only when I started the game again and acquired the skill of two spells per round I could continue with my adventure. The story is not something special, but collecting the loot and tactical fights were quite fun. Also scyre's trials are a very good mechanism, it makes you think about the fight as a riddle and enables you to fight with different builds. I think I will play the game again this time, using the warrior and following the anarchy and power path, using the power units. If you like tactical games with a spoon of riddles and rpg this is a game for you.

Story telling RPG Strategy Game in 3D

Just what Fallout 3 did to Fallout 2, but in a good way. Top down fantasy strategy King's Bounty (DOS) was remade to beautiful, also top-down modern game several years ago. Acclaimed remake had plenty DLCs, and then went silent. Then the successor of the remake was created, with the twist: you travel in the world via follow camera and are emerged fully in 3D environment. Game is tailored to tell a story, with all the good attributes (music, voiceover, effects, twists, beautiful sceneries) Despite I am a fan of 2D graphic (or pre-rendered), KB2 didn't lack in beauty. Adding the quirks of 'searching for hidden areas/treasures', getting lost in complex areas, enjoying views, emerged in altitude-various platforms, either from a tower from a castle, or beholding the same castle from a nearby mountain. Battles are chronologically setup to offer unique experience and constant challenge. I much more miss open world game, but I get that the remake wants the player to stick with the story and try out all premade enemy armies with unique warlords (or priests/mages). Just like KB remake, also here you can select from 3 archetypes (Warrior, Priest, Mage), just named to make them more real to the world (and the story) With a twist: Instead of 3 skill trees, you have four, and you can combine them (kind-of freely) While limited by your archetyped, your ingame actioons will shift the potential of the four skill trees and eventually opening any two at maximum level (or half-opening their combo, despite they are designed to dual-mutually-exlusive) Mutually exlusive are: Might vs Magic Order (Good) vs Anarchy (Evil) But it is eventually possible to jack of all trades but master of none. Luckily, games is not set to torture players with meaningless 'fetch' or 'find' quests, and the few still there are meant to make you explore, not just waste your time. Game full of eye-candies, twists and plenty of choices that make a real difference for the progress. I liked this sequel

Mediocre at best.

Combat, skills, and equipment variety are decent to good. Everything else just drags the game down. The map is huge, but that only works against you as 75% of what you'll be doing is running back and forth. Voice acting is some of the worst I've ever seen. The story is dull and fails to make you really care about anything other than getting to the next battle. Your horse handles like a pony with mad cow disease. The ending is short and unfulfilling. There are worse games out there, but there are better ones too. Lots. If you really, really wanna give this a try, do yourself a favor and wait for a sale.
