Great game in all aspects except in a single one:
Game has a problem with microstutters, the 1% FPS dips to 15 FPS every second or so while Real-Time FPS shows aroun 90-100.
Setup:
Radeon 7900xt
Ryzen 3700x
32gb RAM
nvme SDD
it's either a driver problem or just something that was overlooked in game development.
GPU utils alternates between 100% and 80% continuously, exactly when the stutters happen. CPU utils always around 40%.
It is just unplayable for now.
Running it at 4k with or without FSR doesn't change much, with any kind of graphics preset (low, mid. high,...)
I will definetly change the review when the game gets a fix because it deserves a 5/5.
Probebaly not everyone will have this problem but I have seen from other forms that it is affecting both NVIDIA and AMD GPU's so your mileage will vary
The game was good on release day. It still had many annoying bugs and glitches. But it was playable.
Now it's totally broken.
(have it on steam)
can't recommend the game anymore.
Positive:
• Good technical condition (currently)
• Proven and tested Frostbite engine
• NPC daily routines
• Medieval setting
• FULLY voiced in multiple languages
• After only 19 years on the consumer market, SSDs have finally arrived at the developer
• Many varied quests with surprises
• Learning by doing
• Modding support
Negative:
• Combat system: A rhythm minigame without rhythm, but with quick-time events
• USK 18 Rating: Alcohol abuse! (no nudity and no brutality)
• Fantasy: Wokeness over realism! (Homosexuality, people of color & female dominance)
• Progression: From nobleman to bandit
• Mouse & Keyboard Controls: Horrible! There are three different confirmation keys, not even counting double-clicks and holding down. The combat minigame is controlled with the camera. In some menus, the mouse cursor completely disappears.
• Characters: Mixed! Most of them (regardless of gender, class, and nationality) are pretty arrogant. However, it is generally seen as positive when the Player loudly announces in a full room that they want to suck someones flute.
• NPC AI: Supernatural powers! (Teleportation, silent communication with allies, can identify Henry without eyecontact, see through walls and vegetation, sometimes ignore hits, continue walking unhindered with multiple projectiles in their body, preparing combos while Henry is still in conversation, zero milliseconds delay between beeing aimed at and raising shield)
• Language: Overly modern and woke! (emersion-killer)
• Playtime: Artificially stretched! (through: running back and forth, survival mechanics, washing, carry capacity, merchant wealth, fatigue, wellbeing penalties from quests and time skips)
Verdict: Overall, I’m disappointed! It can’t keep up with its predecessor or other medieval games.
If you’re still interested in buying it, I highly recommend using mods (Nexus).
Thank you for reading
imagine waiting SEVEN YEARS for a cobat system they somehow made worse with almost no improvments the sword is the only viable wepon you can't use master strikes with any other wepon
