This game runs off of an official emulator....that barely works. Slow, glitchy, and without any ability to rebind for a controller make for an embarassingly bad port that shouldn't be sold for money. Use MAME instead, it actually runs at more than 3fps.
Their bided to certain keys on the keyboard and even when I use joyto key, the arrow keys wont work. Q,W,X,C are not reasonable button layouts. Plus there's nothing telling you what the buttons do so I have not clue how to do anything.
Sometimes Dotemu (the company that did the port) does a good job porting SNK games to pc.
ie. Metal Slug 3
Other times that make the laziest, piss poor ports that dont even allow you to customize you controls.
ie. King of fighters 2002
This is one of those auful ports.
Absolute massive shame.
SNK Please get some quality control and fire Dotemu from porting your games
An arcade badly emulated by dotemu. I don't understand how gog or steam allow this quality. A pity about what happens with the neo geo games, which do have a very loyal fan community. Why do we have to buy something that is poorly emulated?
(Should've included a question mark there, but ran out of characters.)
Then get this game (and possibly a friend) and a controller (two if you're playing with a friend), and go nuts. Many monsters here seem to be homages to monsters from the "Godzilla" film series. There's a giant robot (like MechaGodzilla, Gigan or Megalon), a giant ape (like King Kong), a giant pseudo-dinosaur (like (naturally) Godzilla), a giant guy in superhero tights (kind of like Jet Jaguar, or maybe just Ultraman), and a giant clay monster (a bit like Hedorah, except made of clay instead of sewage). The controls are great, the environments partially destructable, the moves seem ripped from a wrestling game, the graphics are colorful and detailed (for the time, at least), and the game has just enough to be accessible even if you've never touched a kaiju film. (You just need to know how to control fighting games with wrestling mechanics.) As long as you're using a controller, I say go for it. It offers a lot for your money, and it's just a blast. It's best to be familiar with kaiju films beforehand, but it's perfectly fine for people who just wanna play as a giant monster beating up another giant monster or a giant guy in superhero tights, as well. And really, who doesn't want that, at least deep down?
