Kenshi is an open world, squad based sandbox RPG set in a brutal sword-punk wasteland. Gameplay is open-ended rather than a linear story, so you can play as a settler, a trader, a thief, a rebel, a warlord, an adventurer, a farmer, a slave... or just food for the cannibals.
But first things first, you need to survive. Train your men up from puny victims to master warriors, carry your wounded squad mates to safety and get them all home alive. You are not the chosen one, you’re not great and powerful, you don’t have more ‘hitpoints’ than everyone else and you are not special. Unless you work for it.

- Customise a solo character or a whole squad and train them from puny victims to master warriors
- Survive in an unrelenting world of slavers, cannibals, wild beasts and famine. Nowhere is safe.
- Build your own fortress, research technologies, craft your own gear and wage war with other factions
- Explore and scavenge the uncharted lands of one of the largest single player open world maps to date
- Absolutely no level-scaling. The world does not level up along with you and the game won't hold your hand.

An intriguing RPG/Survival hybrid sandbox that invites you to experiment in the world it presents. Some technical hiccups interrupt the open world and the freeform nature definitely isn't for everyone but if you are after something different, Kenshi is the very definition of that.

The best sandbox experience
It's unbelievable that this game even exists. Best enjoyed blind, but it will be frustrating for a few hours. Mods highly recommended, but not for a first playthrough.

Unique Adventure?
Played this 1st when it was in devlopment and just returned. Games just compelling with no quest structure or plot like other RPGs the purpose is to not just survive but to thrive in the harsh wastelands. Travel find oppatunities, farm, raid, run away, get enslaved, escape. Living in Kenshi is its own adventure.

1 of a Kind
I cant even put this into words. Its so unique. Expand, quest if you want, or build, farm, mine, fight, find secrets, wipe out societies, make factions fight each other, go rouge, get your pushed in. This game is like nothing you've ever played before.

Ugly, clunky, difficult and great!
Do not feel discouraged. For me this clicked as soon as I just found a copper source, build simple campfire, mined copper, sold it, bought building materials, build a shack and repeated. everything comes natural after that. Give it an hour or two. You will not be disappointed afterwards!
