Loved it

If you love oldschool adventure games, Kathy Rain is a must. Twin Peaks-esque mystery story seasoned with healthy amount of deliciously dark humor in a wonderful pixel art visuals. Great variety of puzzles pose exactly the right amount of challenge without being overcomplicated or illogical. Voice acting really stands out (especially Kathy). Gameplay experience was polished with great care, went through the game without single problem. You can even control Kathy from the comfort of your couch using a game controller with very convenient control scheme - quite a unique feature for this type of game. The new content fits in smoothly and makes the story even more enjoyable. If you liked the original it's an opportunity to show some love to the developers and send them a message you would like a sequel.

Just the right amount of retro feeling

In short: It's a good remake. The adaptation of the scenes for widescreen monitors has gone well, it runs smooth and - other than the original - it won't change the desktop resolution, which is always a pain in the a** I am not a big fan of one click interfaces, I usually prefer to have the choice between "look", "pick up" and "use" at least. But these days with tablets and mobile phones becoming more and more popular for games like this, I guess you have to do it that way. It works well enough however, doesn't really dumb down the gameplay. The game itself is as good as ever, sometimes Kathy tries a bit too hard to be the "lost case" as she puts it, but overall the characters are well designed, the puzzles not all too fancy. The storytelling seems heavily inspired by the first Gabriel Knight game, which is good, the setting reminds of Twin Peaks. The tension keeps buiding towards the end. I don't really like the finale however, it somehow doesn't fit in. Oh ... and Kathy can now afford different bikes.

Adventure game players' delight

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game on another site and when I saw it on sale here on GOG I repurchased it, not only in order to play it again in virtual privacy but to also support the developer, who is clearly worth supporting (in hopes of future offerings). I've played adventure games since DOS and all the way through to current day high-tech offerings and this game provides the immersion factors (most importantly good storyline) that the original greats offered those of us who have evolved into AG junkies. It scratches the itch for sure.

Very nice investigation game

For once, it is a _logical_ investigation game, without puzzles that make no sense at all. The atmosphere is nice, the game is not too hard with the right amount of validation. I've spent a nice couple of hours. Too bad the Whispers of a machine is not running on Linux, I would have played it right away...

A great choice for that retro ich

This adventure game is one of those rare occasions where all the puzzles make perfect sense and 99% of the time it does feel great to work through them. The retro style is made with pleasing artistic sensibilities. The whole game feels special, like it was made by people who cared enough about it. You do think and opperate as a detective should, in most cases. The achievements are hillarious. Good story. Good puzzles. You should definitely get the director's cut version.
