Katana ZERO

This game is short, and maybe I've got a dinky attention span, but it was just right for me. I prefer a tighter better story that gets into the action, instead of the over bloated or scattered stories. The game play is fluid, the abilities and play go hand in hand with the story and design, sounds and sound track are fantastic. I played a comparable game because it had loads positive year-end reviews, My Friend Pedro, and in comparison this Katana Zero is far superior despite their simillarities. MFP ended up being a boring slog that I can't be bothered to even finish with gameplay/abilities/story and controls that failed to coalesce. I would rather have Katana Zero: Vol 1, and can't wait for Vol 2, than rushed and sloppy games.

This is now, if not my favorite, one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay is great but the craziest thing is the gameplay isn't even the best part of the game. The story is definitley a very "Indie feeling" story that takes more risks than your average AAA game story. I think that this is one of the games where the game and the story actually feel integrated together, when lots of games feel completely seperated between gameplay and story. The story is actually enchanced by the gameplay, I don't think it would work nearly as well as something like a comic or movie (Not that I would mind a Katana Zero comic.). The spritework and aesthetic are great, and the mechanics are well fleshed out. I think that at the moment this is an excellent value and when the rest of the story releases as DLC (Which is planned to be a third of the size of the base game.) It will be a no-brainer for pretty much anyone.

Not enough reviews can be given as to how really good this game is. it challenges you but doesn't become stupid. Story is seriously captivating and wish there was so much more. Sad part is, it says DLC will be coming in a month. Well I believe I hit that and it isn't even complete but it also tells me more to come in a month. There's a review saying that it will be 1 month since 2019. If you don't want to go through a serious cliff hanger, I say avoid this game until it's either on sale or the second game comes out.......whenever that may be.
