Always enjoyed this game
I liked the general gamplay. The backstory was good and the simplicity of design made IronStorm an easy to get started, easy to play game. I strongly disagree with the first 2 reviews. This game is good!

Nice and BEEFY!!!!
It's supposed to be rough and clunky. The atmosphere and especially sounds effects are excellent. And all of the weapons feel and sound really good. I love alternate history and this is just fascinating. Games that allow you to switch perspectives are awesome!

Actually I own the retail versione. I remember that this game litterally sucked me with a depressive atmosphere, and engaging world and a good challenge. Raccomendded.

Back to the 90s
Yes Yes i know this game was released 2002. And i can understand why people call it bad. Because THIS game is a typical shooter in the style of the late 90s. Of course... too hard for the kids in 2002 and way too for call of duty kids of these days. Why? because this games are unforgiven and they dont take you by their hand and guide you trough the levels like CoD. People say it is frstrating? I say: NOOOOO. It is not. You have to open your eyes and ears and you have to move cautious. thats all. i went trought the game without any problems. yes their was some trial and error but just because i wasnt concentrated. this game is always fair. hard but fair. enemys see you when you see them. their is no enemy AI aimbot running (maybe some people dont know how to move + aim + fire these days, i am looking at you call of duty kids) and for the weaklings, there is autoaim. I think some people just play this game in a wrong way. you have to clean the area before progressing to reduce the chance of enemys falling into your back AND you have to trun around from time to time. if people call this game frustrating, then what do they call games like ghost recon 1? if you can enjoy old school shooters and you look for an interessting trenchwars setting GET THIS GAME. gameplay and controls are smooth and enjoyable. i bought this game today for the first time and it is definitely a game that could come from the half life /unreal era. 5/5

one of the best shooter of all time
i didn´t know the game until this year, as i found it on gog. downloaded, installed, played. first on normal difficulty. i have played many fps shooter in my life. many. but only VERY few are as good as this one. this is a classic straigt forward shooter. no fancy stuff. hard, long and very good story. the weapon system are well designed, the levels (6) are very different and the story (especially the end !!!) is very good. the story of the game has a main message which is more topical then ever. about the difficulty: the game is hard but fair. if you are a normal skilled player then the game is absolutely no problem for you. i finished it on "normal", and it was no problem to do so. now, i replay it on "realistic" (the hardest of the 3 difficulties) and it´s not that hard. ok, you must aim on the head before shooting and in some cases you must know who the guys are (hidden sniper) but thats it! the game is also long, you have 6 very different areas/levels. it´s a long time ago that i had so much fun with a shooter. 110% oldschool. if you are not a shooter noob and you like hard shooters than you will love this game -believe me. watch youtube vids before buying and everything will be fine. for me i can say: i will replay this game in future years many times. this is one of the games you can replay for the rest of your life. :-)
