Iron Harvest

This wasn't apparent to me going in, but became VERY apparent quickly... This game is based 100% on the board game Scythe; same world, same characters, same art. It's a great RTS, that brings a lot of unique mechanics to the field. I've very much enjoyed it.

When strategy games used to have epic campaigns? This is a game that clearly remember the Fifth of November, with an well developed campaign, interesting characters and an amazing setting. Took clearly inspirations of games like Company of Heroes, Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and it shows, maybe some units are a little bit unbalanced but you won't regreat to purchase this game, buy it and the expansions too ;)

Quite a good game, It is very much like the old RTS games of the past but with a modern twist with machines instead of tanks etc. It is quite fun and the story line is quite fun very much reminds me of the battle that Ukraine is going through now. The polanians (Polish?) fighting the Rusviets (Russians?) etc. Against the other reviews I am quite enjoying it and find it quite engaging and I am now near the end of the first Polanian campaign. Things I suggest I found that I had problems with moving the map and blurring at beginning so I went into settings and slowed down all the scroll rates which made it much better, easier to select your forces and then click on map points to direct, in addition the forces against you can be quite devastating in some missions so be prepared to build up defenses, have engineers ready on standby to fix your buildiings, and your mechs, and use the bear to heal your troops (troops need to be removed from buildings or unattached from heavy machine gun to have first aid and then can be returned. Make use of all resources as quick as you can and upgrade facilities , the more resources you can take away from the enemy and have for yourself the better. Use the R command to retreat your troops mechs if damaged to recall to base, heal them and then use regenerate command to give you full squads again. And by the way save save save, just in case you need to replay a scenario if you make a mistake in a mission rather than having to restart that mission from the beginning again. I am really enjoying it leave it up to you to decide!

Bought this early on GOG, hoping it would be good, but it's just hard to play: - The light infantry can't travel through thick woods and attack from well-covered terrain so they're almost useless. Light infantry with anti-tank weapons are deadly in tight terrain, and tanks will avoid them in real life - Balance is crazy difficult in the campaign, even under the easiest setting - Unit caps and production limits mean that the Poles are always overwhelmed by infinite hords of Russians attacking, and it's a complete grind to try to keep up as your units are slaughtered by perpetual waves of Russians - Unit movement is spongy and unresponsive; units will not seek cover or maintain cover while fighting - - so they just die - I wanted this to be a steampunk version of Supreme Commander, but instead it's just a grind house of trying to generate troop after troop while your forces are constantly killed off

Really enjoying my time with the game. It has some Bugs (sometimes units dont attack as they should or they get stucked) and the cutscenes have some problems loading in 1 sec too late for the audio. But nothing that makes it unplayable or breaks the game. I like the story, the characters and the visuals a lot. Gameplay could be better but i think its well done for a small studio. The native tongue option, where everybody speaks in his own language is also great and should be adapted by others. (It still makes no sense though why a german scientist answers a polish girl back in german.) Critics are really too hard on this game, so give it a go.
