The remnants of human civilization are threatened by gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth. You must control powerful mechs from the future to hold off this alien threat. Each attempt to save the world presents a new randomly generated challenge in this turn-based strategy game from the makers of FTL.
  • Defend the Cities: Civilian buildings power your mechs. Defend them from the Vek and watch your fire!

It's okay

This is a somewhat interesting rogue-lite puzzle game in which you move your 3-mech army around on a small grid to keep alien insects from destroying civilians in buildings. It held my interest for about an hour before I realized that I was simply moving puzzle pieces on a small grid in order to defend a set number of buildings--wash, rinse, and repeat. There's nothing wrong with this if you like puzzles, but it got old quickly for me. The upgrade system and weapon unlocks were anti-climactic and really didn't shake up the basic, repetitive formula of the game. This developer's other game, FTL, is a much better use of time, and I highly recommend it. Into the Breach is a bit of a downgrade.

So it requires some thinking, and some misstakes. Played it recently it's still pretty good, even when I am rusty.

Love this game!

Into the Breach is very well put together. You can really feel the effort and thought put into the design of this game. The visual design looks great, and the music is catchy without being distracting. The latter really helps me to concentrate during long sessions. I mostly played it on another platform, just here to grab a DRM-free PC copy here for my collection.

Worth a Replay

Units are unique. Music is catchy. The time travel gimmick is a nice excuse for a run-based title.
