On June 22, 1941, Hitler's German forces attacked Russia's 2,000 mile-long home front and advanced on Moscow. The Russians put up a fierce resistance which finally ground the Nazi war machine to a halt. Vital to the resistance was the Ilyushin Sturmovik, the IL-2. It was an anti-tank aircraft hailed by the Russians.
The Russians called it "the flying tank", the Germans called it "Black Death", and you will call it the most exciting and realistic combat flight experience you've ever had.

After buying 50+ games from GOG in just 2 months and then getting no support whatsoever on this game, I will not spend my money here any longer. I could not get this to run on my Vista 64 system, posted my quandary in the forums and sent an email to support. No responses at all.
I looked on other forums and it seems it takes a lot of work to get this game running decently. It's a game I really want to play but no support from GOG or the IL-2 forum here means all I have is a (rather nice) PDF aircraft manual. Ah well, guess I'll tone down my 20+ purchases/month down to about (maybe) 1 or 2, if that.
This game is for the 40 year old virgin that regrets not running away to the air force when he turned 18. Yes, the graphics are fantastic, but that's where the enjoyment ends with this game. To sum it up while I still have your attention, if I wanted to learn how to fly a plane... I WOULD GET FLYING LESSONS! The only way you are going to complete a mission is if you have no life, no job, and have played flight simulator X for an entire weekend. Making it worse, the training doesn't even have audio! You have to read for 10 minutes and you miss half the tutorial because you daze off because you are just flying with no sound but an engine! How hard is it to throw an audio track down!? Making it worse, there is NO MUSIC in combat. It wouldn't be that bad if it didn't take me 10 minutes to get to the combat zone just to crash, not by the enemy, but by not flipping a switch or cutting a turn too hard, that caused the plane to tale spin to the ground. This game was designed for people that wanted to learn to fly planes that aren't in active combat rotations... not for someone that wants to kill nazis and communists....
