In an exotic range of vehicles and around some of the harshest circuits ever devised, you've got to ram, nudge, barge and otherwise cheat your way to victory. If you spot a sneaky shortcut, then use it - if your opponent's hugging the cliff edge then give him a nudge and a salute as you cruise into the lead and he cruises into a deep gorge.
Out on these panoramic race circuits, you'll get to drive the weirdest range of vehicles. Speed merchants can try the Bug for size, style victims can hop in the Redneck and those with a taste for the bizarre can drive the bright yellow school bus through the opposition.
Once you've beaten the computer controlled cars, grab a mate and test the multiplayer mode. You won't need no steeenking modem to play head to head in this game, though, because Ignition features a unique split-screen mode for up close and personal racing.

No Multiplayer?
I played the original-game only in multiplayer. So i am missing that in this version.

Love the game, not this version though
I loved Ignition back in the day and thought I'd get it on GOG when I discovered they had it. Initially, I was very impressed. The game was as fun and as gorgeous visually as I remember it being. Things continued to be great until I began playing through the Championship. For some reason the game kept crashing (no pun intended) every time I got onto to Cape Thor race (around the second lap). This happens every time meaning I cannot complete the game. Essentially I have bought a broken game there doesn't seem to be any patches to fix it. I thought I could over-ride this by using the cheats but they don't work on this version for reasons unbeknownst to me. It's a real shame as the game itself is great, if you like arcade style cartoonish racing games along the lines of Mario Kart and Micromachines. I cannot fathom why cheats would be disabled or why GOG would release a game this broken. I have read the forums and others appear to be having similar issues. Until they fix this version so it can actually be completed, I wouldn't recommend anyone part with their cash.

I was waiting for this game for so long! And finally it's here! This was one of the cutest racing games I've played. Top down view with cute cars and amazingly crafted dynamic tracks.

The best top-down racing experience?
Really, really enjoyable - somehow the perspective and vibe of the game makes me instantly forgive myself when I take the wrong turn or get hit by a giant rolling rock... it is easy enough to drive in it to not cause any headaches. It was a childhood dream for me to get this game after I have played with the demo for months. It is a gem, but maybe I am biased, as this was an early experience for me with PCs. Unfortunately there are no legacy files (just DOSbox), the intro has no sound for me on my modern PC, and sometimes I run into the exploding car bug (when all cars in the game explode time and time again).
