Hotline Miami is a high-octane action game overflowing with raw brutality, hard-boiled gunplay and skull crushing close combat. Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine. If taking an acid tab was a game...
This is what it'd look like. Frenetic gunplay aside, there are downsides to the trip. The fact you can't bring a gun with you before each level throws off each encounter from a tactical standpoint, and a cash system to buy guns on a black market would have been a welcome addition, especially after seeing all the weapons that are supposedly unlocked after each level. Also, the stealth sequences are jarring and broke away from the overall pace of the game, and the short vignettes after each level do little to nothing to advance the "story", which is nonexistent.
