I really enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn, i played though it fully on Playstation (Platinum trophy) and was overjoyed when it came to GOG. Absolutely no regrets in re-buying this game again especially here on GOG where i dont need to worry about online/drm things.
There's a lot of games here for a great price and not only is it a lot of game quality. it never felt like a grind and it was really one of the few games i couldn't put down and even though between work and younger kids i managed to find time often at the cost of sleep.
Absolutely recommend this game, especially on GOG.
I previously played on launch under steam but refunded before Guerilla took public initiative with patching. Revisited on fresh Windows 11 install and work regardless of forum suggestions such as Special K, hex edits, or removing files - its totally busted for my rig. Second time refunding this title.
First off - what a beautiful game, I only fast travelled a few times throughout the 70 hours it took for me to beat all the side quests and main story. Graphics are absolutely top notch!
The combat is also very solid, the enemies don't just feel like damage sponges like in the modern Assassin's Creed games because each enemy has a specific weakness you can target to make it as easy as possible for yourself and I don't mean just the elemental weaknesses, I mean like shooting a rocket launcher off an enemy so he won't be able to launch rockets anymore, making an enemy explode by shooting explosive canisters with fire arrows or breaking their coolant canisters, making the enemies brittle and more vulnerable to arrows.
It was very interesting experimenting with each monster's weak spots and I felt legitimate satisfaction once I found the ultimate strategy for each monster.
The game is definitely more of an action game than an RPG though. You have skills & equipment stat modifiers and that's about it. The dialogue choices don't matter at all besides a few different lines of dialogue. However, I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys open worlds, unfogging the map & exploring every map marker and picking up collectibles on the way.
I think it's a small miracle this Sony exclusive somehow ended up on GOG. Hopefully we get Forbidden West as well eventually because I'm a fan and want to see this first entry improved upon. Thank you Guerilla!
I don't get it why most helpful reviews are the one not saying a word about the game and roasting it for data collection.
DRM is different than data collection. This on the side, Horizon is one of the best ports from PS to PC.
Great game with wonderful story, world big enough to care and not get lost in it and amazing and fun fight systems. Go for it. Do not care for nay sayers.
