They remade HW1 on HW2 engine and it is not even close to original experience.
Also something that I will never accept. They made classic versions available but stripped them of LAN connection option.
Why do it? Were they afraid that people would rather play old ones instead of new ones?
Cool, so now no one is playing neither old nor new and community is no more. Congratulations to new owners of the brand
HW2 port is OK and playable
I love this game/ games but it occasionally would fail to launch, i believe when trying to load a saved game and or when adjusting texture and light settings. other than those annoying bugs, its a fantastic and fun experience.
somewhat difficult to learn how to navigate 3d space, but come on, ITS 3d SPACE! size scaling could be better. the tiny ships are barely visible when zoomed in, and almost disappear entirely when zoomed out. Overal wonderful game.

Perfect for LAN parties, and it seems to be LAN compatible, even without GOG Galaxy, which is great!

The game's strengths are numerous. Its aesthetic brilliance, with intricately designed ships and breathtaking nebulae, creates a sense of awe and wonder. The compelling narrative, masterfully told through cinematic cutscenes, fosters a deep emotional connection. The strategic depth, demanding careful planning and adaptation, provides a rich and rewarding experience. The persistent fleet, carrying over from mission to mission, adds a layer of consequence to every decision. The atmospheric sound design enhances the sense of scale and wonder.
Homeworld pioneered true 3D space combat, allowing ships to move in any direction, creating complex formations and flanking maneuvers. The free-floating camera provided unparalleled tactical awareness. The ship building and enhancement system, coupled with resource management, added a simulation feel to the mission-based gameplay.
Use the Tutorial: While the learning curve and occasional difficulty spikes posed challenges, the overall experience was transformative.
At the time I was a level designer on Heroes of Might and Magic III. After work Homeworld was my escape. The sheer scale, freedom of movement, and emotional power captivated me.
Seeing the 2015 Remastered Edition was a very welcome return. I was ecstatic! Enhancing the visuals and audio while preserving the core gameplay. It was a testament to Homeworld's enduring legacy, a timeless classic that continues to inspire. Homeworld is more than a game; it's an experience, a journey, a masterpiece that deserves to be experienced by all gamers.
