Come on, It's Heroes III
Modern game developers desperately need to take a look back at classic games like this. Study the nuances of what gives this game its atmosphere, the feelings it gives you when you play, the music, the world, and everything else about it. I just want to escape to worlds where brave knights in shining armor slay evil dragons and rescue beautiful princesses. And so I will. I'll close my wallets to the fools leading most development studios today, and I'll open my library of amazing classics while the snake that is AAA gaming consumes itself.

One of the Best of All Time
Grew up playing this game, and still come back to it regularly. Great balance of exploration, tactical combats, and resource management. Great music, great campaign, and the random map generator allows for near-infinite replayability!
