Found this little gem, it's really nice for relaxing and having some fun, great for kids too. I like the simple and interesting story and the little secrets you can find in every map.
Look, I was a kid once (shock!) and one of my first games was some bullshit formula racing from Apogee which was disappointing to say the very least. If I was a kid again, Hero of the Kingdom would be the perfect entry to the genre of computer games I came to enjoy.
It's nice enough to look at and I don't think it's going to get ugly over the next years.
"Gameplay" formula is basically combination of memory and hidden object hunt but completely stress free. I don't know if you can lock yourself out of the game, but that would surely take either some dedication or unbelievably bad luck.
So, what I'm saying is - if you're a parent and want to introduce your kid to computer games and they can read, go ahead. Chances are you'll have three hours or so to yourself - and I think that's good enough.
Or - and that's what happened to me - if you're so stressed from work you can't really do anything else except for sleeping, staring in to the wall and drinking wine, this game should help. It's basically equivalent to squeezing a stress ball.
No, you won't be running across the land Fus-Roh-Dahing dragons across the snowy landscape, nor will you be smashing/zapping/slashing your way through demonic point-click-kill mobs, or Aarding and slicing with silver and steel through monsters and men. Not even close.
Nope. But...
It's an old-fashioned adventure, a simple interactive story with a bit of "hidden object" worked in. The plot/dialogue will not win any awards or be considered cutting edge, epic fantasy spiffiness but... it's fun. I have enjoyed running (technically "clicking") through this little adventure more than some AAA games of late. That probably says more about the industry than this game, but that is what it is. They can keep their rancid lobster bisque.
Be thankful for little cups of chicken soup like this.
I love these kind of games where you just can play (without dailys and other mandatory things you have to do additionaly). This game is just like a good book <3 read/play and enjoy
