Nice shooter game
Fun game with some puzzles. Sometimes is hard to pass in tight passages though.

Helium Rain is a single-player space simulation that places you at the helm of a spacefaring company. Trade resources, buy ships and stations to fulfill contracts ! Dock at stations to buy and sell your wares or upgrade your ship, upgrade your technology to be more efficient and militarize your fleet to prevent piracy.
You will need to master both real-time action and long-term strategy: destroying a freighter has a direct impact on the economy, while declaring war will make your spaceflight environment slightly more hostile...
A world that feels real
Your ships have generators, radiators, weapons, engines, cargo bays or life support systems - they all work together. Every thruster on your ship plays a role. Aim for engines to pin down your enemies, or send them spinning around by destroying power stations. Most ships have more than thirty individual parts ! You can customize the most important parts of your ships - your main engines, attitude control thrusters, weapons and hull colors.
Your competitors are independent factions, companies with the same goal as yours - ruling the system. They will try to undercut you, or even attack you if you become a threat to them. But don't be too quick to destroy them, as war can break the supply of resources you depend on ! Attacking freighters will destroy resources, with the potential to cause an economic crisis.

Bad Interface
Game was OK until I got a second ship. At that point it was impossile to figure out how to manage the activities of the 2 ships. It seems you can only control one at a time even if it is on a 12 day transit. All ships sit idle and only one at a time can do anything. Maybe this isn't actually true, but after an agonizing half hour trying to figure it out I gave up and got my money back.

Frustrating
Unless you are an expert at flying ships in a Newtonian physics simulation, steer clear. For someone like me who is a casual player who prefers the point and fly approach, merely docking ships in this game was a nightmare. I tried for hours to dock with various stations and managed to do so only once. There is an autodock feature, but it only seems to work half the time. I honestly didn't get very far in the game due to what is for me a broken and very extremely frustrating flight mechanic, but I did get to play a bit with the economic simulation, which seemed to be very basic, not going any further than Elite from the 1980's, or its numerous clones: you buy goods that differ merely in their names, prices, and locations, and deliver or sell them somewhere else... rinse and repeat endlessly. This is actually kind of what I wanted, but the frustrating flight mechanic stood in the way of enjoying this part of the game for me. Avoid this game unless you are a pro at flying in Newtonian physics.

Its a pity
The graphics are good, but all the systems look much the same. If you play this game you will understand why the good ones don't put too much emphasis on the physics. Ponderous and glacially paced. Of the twenty or so systems I've discovered, 15 don't buy or sell anything. I'm trying to build a ship but it needs resources for the project to begin. I go get them but when I return to the shipyard, they can't afford to buy them off me. What the? Entering combat makes your ship almost unflyable. Joysticks are a must. Dont waste your time or money on this. There are many good Space Sims but this isn't one of them.

Manual docking in space, really? Complex game mechanics? This game is neither "relaxing" nor "casual".
