From the very good gunplay, really good difficulty, design, and world-building that make this game really unique, it mixes the style of Doom with exploration and puzzles like Thief. I can't recommend this enough if you like both of those styles of games.
So this is a fairly good old school style shooter. Some of the mechanics, features, and gameplay really are well thought out and make the game have unique elements. Other aspects are.. well... Not and feel like a rushed school project.
The biggest complaint I have is the lack of creativity that lead to blatant ripping off. The sound effects are all from the original Doom. I get that the goal was to create a Doom clone, but if you can create new sprites and models, you can create original audio rather than cutting corners and utilizing the same ones from a popular title. This trend continues in other areas as well. The map design, map tab, and movement all are prime examples.
If you can get past the blatant copying, the game is pretty good. But if you're a big Doom fan, chances are this might leave a sour taste in your mouth.
It´s long as hell, part 2 is tough as hell sometimes too, exploring is organic and satisfying, its not overly confusing, it has legit RPG and immersive sim lite elements, even if rare, they make the game superfresh from other gzdoom TC´s (Total Conversions), Combat is balanced, fun aand gorey with plenty of chunky heafty feeling melee and guns for a spritebased game. characters and story are a dessert but nothing major, its all about shooting. i have nothing negative to say really except that it has the issue it´s plagued by: fetishsized ugly weird cringey nerd orc lesbians (havent seen a single man in the game that isnt an enemy or worthless hubworld NPC) its a matriarchy of muscles amazonians with the worst deviantart art you really gotta blend the fugly character designs out of your mind, i pity anyone who has that fetish, to me its disgusting and revolting. and its also why i usually dont recommend the game to others, i feel ashamed, but the game is so good in gameplay terms it would be a shame if it isnt selling well. so try it, get over the disgusting orc elven bullshit and have fun! i mean, the environmental art is awesome! atmosphere and soundtrack are great too, its really just too long to finish for most people and the story, fetish art and all puts off too many people. what a shame.
