Lost my physical copy ages ago. This game is a blast. A terrific truck simulator with dozens of different trucks, pretty graphics at the time, nice sound and music and a rather interesting twist to the whole delivery business. It adds a racing element to the mix. Different AI drivers compete to deliver each cargo, and some of them have a head start! Radio talk dynamic with asking other drivers in range to drop the cargo for a compensation, hiring mafia to harass a certan river, police chases, insane uncharted shortcuts through mountain ranges, all to deliver first and keep your license.
Spent hours on this game in the past, will spend more.
For English speaking players:You probably have a question:"What kind of game suddenly appeared in GOG, broke into the top sales and received high ratings of players?"I answer: this game is very cult in Russia and CIS countries. It is made by a Russian Studio, it feels the Russian soul (roads, nature, soundtrack from the Russian rock band Aria) and it had a great gameplay for its time (2001). Despite the fact that ETS 2 is now objectively the largest and most developed cargo transportation simulator, it does not have what is in this game - the spirit of rivalry. You deliver this or that cargo is not one. With you it is carried by competitors who strive to arrive before you and to receive the bigger fee than you. And you try all the ways to come first: face rivals, looking for bypass roads (secret road in GreyStone is a separate topic for conversation), spend all the money on pumping the power of your truck and all this for the first place and a license to hire a worker in your company. That's what's missing in ETS 2. Although this game is inferior to ETS 2 in many ways (2001, common), but it will give a unique experience that you will not get in any other simulator. The game is worth the money and time.
When I was a little kid, it was only game besides HoMM 3 which I really enjoyed playing. Then came 2007 and the physical copy cracked after years of playing. It's classic trucking game where you need to deliver shipments to their destinations and if you are the first to do so, you can hire other drivers to help you earn money. If you need some fun you can apply for the Circuit race (with your truck, of course!) and see if you can leave the others behind. Or you can explore the mine system between Foothill and Greystone, finding the shortest way to deliver cargos. You can upgrade your truck with various equipments or escaping from cops because you broke the law. Arcade mode is recommended for new players because you can get fuel and repair instantly, while in Simulator mode you need to stop.
One of my favorite games. I kinda like the idea truck companies are competing to deliver goods the customer wants. I like those upgrades, off-road shortcuts and variety of vehicles. Yes, there are few annoying glitches, but it's no AAA game.
But my absolute favorite part of the game is the soundtrack. I dislike or maybe even hate heavy metal, with one major exception - instrumental version of songs from Russian band Aria. I love it and occasionally listen to it while working to this day. Last time yesterday :-)
If someone knows this game already, then you're in good luck, because the experience haven't changed since then. It's still a lot of fun and I'm more than happy that this game is avalibe in GOG. Works great on my Windows 10 PC.
