Months after the final release, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is still going strong. The minigame-turned-esport continually goes through iterations and patches, shedding skins and morphing into a real beast of a card game. It has a wistful past, a solid present, and a bright future.

A closed beta players experience
Oh what a journy, from closed beta, and now in to a full game. I have loved every hour of this game in closed beta, and yeah i could make comments about closed beta but that wouldent be much of a accurate review wouldent it? Things that makes gwent so great of a game is just the amount of cards and diffrent deck archtypes there are, and a posetive sidenote also the generousity of the game. that was pretty generous in the beta fase, but they without a doubt ramped it up here in homecomeing , Arena is probely the best mode in hc and why that is, is due to you dont have a meta, and there is no provision cost, can match ups become unbalanced sure without a doubt, but its probely the game mode that stays the freshest due to anything can happen in arena. And the downsides that comes smacking you in the face time and time again,. Artifacts, and why is that, Oh is a magical tool that can either boost and activate your cards better, some have limited useage, and some is useable every time you play a card, so if you take that in mind you can get alot and then i mean alot of value, and that can lead us in to Tech cards, Tech cards sure are great when it comes to matchups and what not, but its gonna hurt your decks consistency and just make your matchups weaker in the long run. Some factions in my option have lost there personality, sure i might be a nostalgic for old gwent. and they did state a time before that not all abilitys will be lore friendly, not all cards will work with one another and such. Rng, the boogieman word of any card game. Can you avoid rng elements sure, and will a card game have 0 rng elements hell no, but doubleing down on them isent the awnser. making reveal a rng fiesta meanwhile in old gwent sure reveal was annoying, and it had a few trouble cards, Why im i giving this game a 3 and not a 1 or a 2. well im hopeful that cdpr will listen to the community, and change things for the better, and its playable but nto as enjoyable as before

New game, has potential, needs polish :)
The game is not as bad as most people here state it is. The problem is that we're given a completely new game after the Beta, and people are angry at missing cards/mechanics, though they are about to return in the next expansion (TBA). And overall, the game has kept the following positive traits: 1) F2P-friendly (really, one of the most f2p-friendly CCGs out there); 2) Easy to learn, hard to master. High skill ceiling, which is nice for competitive players; 3) The game generates revenue for the company (CDPR), so new content is a no-brainer, and we'll have a roadmap of that in December. Right now the main focus of the team is the upcoming balance/bugfix patch. That being said, there's still some bugs (sound volume not configurable as intended, sometimes cards are bugged), so if you're eager to try the game out, but afraid of gameplay issues, it would be nice to wait until December patch hits. Also, by that time the game releases on consoles if you're interested. I'm having fun with this game, and I'd give it 5 out of 5 if there were not those minor issues I listed above.

I'm done with this game
Card design is very lazy -> meta becoming stale and boring after a week or 2 even after a big patch. Cant remember a patch without several small but annoying bugs.
