As the title says, it's an OK game but not rly good anymore compared to the Beta version. I was hyped by Gwent Beta in the early stages and left HS for it. I rly enjoyed to play it but since HC is out i cba to be that active again and just play some games now and then.
Wish they wouldn't have changed the whole game+gameplay. I personally don't like the new board, the new leaders as non playable cards, the 2 rows etc.
Last but not least a lot of poeple who invested lots of hours into the beta left the building and went back to HS, MTGA or are waiting that Artifact will be released.
To sum it up, Gwent lost a lot of his fan- and playerbase by releasing HC -> that says a lot about the newest version of gwent
i just checked my hours before writing this review i have exacly 1873hrs spend on this game started playing since closed beta, i dont know what it is but its just not fun anymore :( feelsbadman
After playing Gwent in beta for more then a year, and now the newly released version, I'm still taken by how a beautiful and fun game Gwent is.
Firstly, it got easy to understand, but hard to master, game design mechanics. Skills are rewarded, but casual players will find players on the same level by playing on the ladder.
Much less RNG than the other card games like HS, Artifact etc.
You can get a decent deck fairly quickly, and CDPR is not bleeding the players like Artifact and Heartstone does. You are very handsomely rewarded just by playing some matches on a regular basis.
The visuals are just stunning, and if you have any love for the Witcher universe CDPR has really delivered!
I'm very happy with how promising the game currently is and I'm really looking forward to the added cards bound to arrive on a regular basis.
I started out the game and I thought it would be another hearthstone clone, but I was pleasantly surprised it was all about setting up a board and trying to have the most points, and the best out of 3 turns would win.
How stupid I was.
The game does help a lot to make it easy for you to unlock things through achivements and such, and the idea of the game is simply incredibly interesting to me, but good luck getting into the game now! Everyone you face from level 1 will be so overleveled compared to you that you will get roflstompd. The game isn't funny, especially when the game gave me a "win 5 games" quest when I have so far lost 100% of my crappy matches. This game comes down to being just as big of a dick as every other fething PvP game, and because it's a god damned cardgame it cmes with all sorts of issues.
Too big deck, you can't really control what you get by having a small deck, NO you need 25 cards, and a normal game you will only use 16-19, so when you start off you can try to make a deck that has a few ideas, cards that plays off one another, but even when you DO get those cards on one hand, your opponent is likely to counter it before you can get anything going or outright overpower anything you have even unlocked so far.
The picking new cards mechanic, seems fine, but for some reason some heroes can change more cards than others. How is that for bad balance?
I don't know what is the thing with Thronebreaker, but I will never buy it, because the base game is such a bad product I don't think I'll ever support the witcher series (Which I have played some off so it's not all down to this game, but it is the last straw)
Fairly slow, kind of clunky, gameplay is largely deciding optimal value from deckbuilding and then playing solitaire with minor variation. It's not bad but there are better ways to spend your time, and if you are frothing at the mouth for a card game there's a plethora of options out there with more exciting content.
