Disappointing
I logged about 1k hours in Gwent before the change. I just can't get into this new Gwent Homecoming. Everything I liked about old Gwent is gone. I knew they were making major changes but did not think it would be a totally different game.

best card game on market
Gwent is imo best card game on market, its: + super f2p friendly, CDPR truly cares about customers, they listen to feedback + awesome lore based on Sapkowski witcher short stories and saga + best visuals and premium cards animations + deep and complex game mechanics + relatively well balanced game, basically every fraction has multiple competetive decks Atm reviews on GOG dont truly reflects quality of this game, CDPR made big, good changes to core of this game and some ppl dont likes/dont understand this so they review bomb this game with 1/5 notes, i guess ppl dont like changes in general but its kinda ridiculous

Very good game - and only getting better
Played since closed BETA - a lot changed since then. Some players who started back then might have negative feelings towords the game because it's not what it used to be. Is gwent what it used to be? No. Is it worse then it used to be? If you want that paticular game back - yeah, that's what you might feel. If you few the "new" gwent as a game of it's own - it's fantastic. Extremely fair f2p system, unique approach to the ccg idea, lots of different decks, interesting deckbuilding system with the provisions, excellent art - and a bright future. This is very good groundwork for a game, that has the potential to shine even more with updates and expansions. I love it - and if you enjoy card games in any way: you might too.

is nice
pros: frequent balance patches that watch the metas. mechanics are meant to give victory to the most skilled player, not RNG draws. the over-all value of a card is counted and you're only allowed so much value in a deck for balancing purposes. a new player can craft any top-tier deck for free soon after entering. card graphics and sound design is superb. cdpr shows that they at least listen to their userbase in most patches. numerous in-game cosmetic rewards, many of which you choose to unlock or pass on. arena event modes are hilarious and fun. this is a ccg based around fun and competition rather than taking your sheckles. cons: perhaps to contribute to the quality card/deck balancing, updates releasing new cards come very, VERY few and far inbetween. when GWENT went live out of beta, despite numerous changes to literally every aspect of the game it was a lateral quality move (which put off many players who played in the years prior to the official release). if you use more than a third of the leaders in the game, you can't heckle or communicate with your opponent because your voice lines are gibberish or grunts. many in-game achievements (called "contracts") are/were bugged. better than all the other online ccgs i've tried (which is all of them except Legends). from its own recent beginnings and room for improvement it already does what everyone else does so much better. CDPR has great design as always.

Want to play gwent?
Been playing the game since the closed beta and i have to say i enjoyed both versions of the game. When homecoming was initially released, i found the game very different and stopped playing it for a while. After deciding to give it a chance post artifact patch, i have to say that the game is quite enjoyable. The art as always is fantastic and the new mechanics are fun. i still miss spies and certain leaders but i am sure they will be back in the future. So i ask that you give this game a second chance or try this game if it the first time you are playing it. you might just have fun.
