Kinda like Dragon Age, but colder and without dragons

This game has been compared to Dragon Age a lot and it is similar in that you get a party of buddies that have quests and like you better when you do them. Where DA is bratty, pop-cultured, and colourful, Greedfall is cooler, well-spoken, and serious. Which fits the setting just fine; you are the new chief diplomat of a settlement on a farway island full of mysterious animals and monsters, trying to find a cure for the deadly scourge that plagues your home country. You unravel the old lies and fight the rising new threat. The end is heartbreaking. Controls are smooth and precise. Equipment has plenty of options bordering on micro-management but still within acceptable limits; with the right stuff, your companions are real overachievers that do half the combat work for you and have some remarks along the way. Graphics are good, designs are pretty cool. You don't get to fight kaiju-sized bosses, just as everyhting is down to Earth in Greedfall, but bosses are still challenging. All extra skills and abilities have their uses, making it hard to decide where to put the points that aren't enough to buy everything. My biggest regret is not getting all the foxes because of a bug (which is the only one I found). Bottom line: a cool RPG that is over before it gets boring, an original setting, a clever character, and tricornes. Five of five stars from me.

Beautiful world and era

Really loved the installment of the game. Playing gun character was fun. Solid RPG with good dialogues and options. Definitely worth your time. Few issues here and there, but generally I do recommend to try it and play it.

Dont bring a knife to the gunfight

So yes, finished this and yes it might be worth to buy but only with discount... So as usual the good, bad and ugly. As a short description, then you are diplomatic conqueror what will spend most of the time running around with a native girl with hygiene on level, that she have some tree branches grooving on her head. Good thing is this game looks great, there are some breathtaking moments and sceneries, the skills/talent system is not a rocket science and there are mostly some multiple ways how to get the job done. The places like your residences and palaces are all same for all faction, I found this as a great benefit, coz it makes things more simple. Item, mats and mobs are respawning now. Bad the game engine is laggy as hell, things like some attacks are not executed properly or you are not able to block attack simply coz click wont execute or in most cases it will get executed and will be shown shown after your death. Another thing is that this game meant be played only on two difficulties, easy and extreme, On easy companions are able kill mobs and you dont have to do anything, on extreme the companions will be killed really fast, what will benefit you simply beacuse the AI sucks big time. There are some gaps in logic and order of things, towards to the endgame is getting worse, perhaps caused by money issues, but are bad and broken quest lines really necessary? First city contain a chest with level 3 lock next to your residence, so after you get level 3 unlock, then you found that chest contain only some shitty grey armor and 10 coins. Same goes for most places accessible by intiuition or vigor checks. Items stats are not matching quality. Perhaps there are some ballance issues or I was playing the game in wrong way. Ugly. So most troublesome things for me is the native local accent. Well hate to spoil your fun, but listen to English with really heavy russian accent is something I'll rather pass. There is reason for saying "go woke go broke".

Superb until unexpected Boss fight

I enjoy RPGs for the story/quests and not practicing a combat system to get good at it. I play on 'Easy' and don't mind some unavoidable combat, andenjoy building other options (diplomacy/stealth/etc.). Greedfall was meeting my expectations fully and I was having a blast until the unexpected Boss Fight to exit Chapter 1. It is massively more difficult than the previous combats, even on 'Discovery'. You are forced to solo the Boss (no party members), there is no console to be able to go into God Mode for that one combat and the response on discussion forums is just 'git gud'. No, I don't want to practice and get good at a combat system. Not my jam. If I could skipcheat this battle, I'd give 5 stars in a heartbeat.
