Great DLC for a Great Game

This DLC is basically more of the same, which is a good thing. I played through it in roughly two hours and wouldn't expect anyone to take more than four. The DLC consists of 3 scenes. As in the last DLC, the third puzzle is by far the easiest and the second one a tough nut to crack - it was the first time I ended a puzzle with a big "What?" on my face, only retroactively puzzling together what exactly had taken place. (Slight mechanical spoiler warning, no puzzle solutions though!) An improvement over the base game is that you don't have to re-learn the position and name of every character. Once you figured them out, later levels will offer them freely to you - which is nice. The second addition is that all puzzles take place over a certain period of time you can freely jump between, giving the DLC more scenes with only three puzzles.

Wonderful conclusion

This is a really wonderful conclusion to an already amazingly told story. A treat to unravel. Genuinely bummed it's over, but excited for what this team has in store in the future.

Not as good as the base game / first DLC

Sadly, the Lemurian Vampire is a step down in quality from the base game and the 1st DLC. First, the cases simply weren't as interesting. This is probably because we already know the overarching story, as the 2nd DLC fills in the story gap between the 1st DLC and the base game. But since we already know what happened before and what happened after, piecing together the gaps just wasn't as fulfilling. Second, the logic of the cases didn't feel as tightly put together. There are a number of logic panels, for example, that felt unrelated to the case itself. And some of the panels require logical leaps or assumptions. By comparison, the case logic in the base game and 1st DLC felt much more tightly put together.

Not as good as base game and 1st DLC

The three more cases to solve aren't necessarily bad, it can be even argued that the DLC goes in the right direction, trying to refresh the formula by adding different times for each scene. In theory it's fine change adding additional dimension to investigations, but in practice I didn't like it very much. It goes back to what I've said already in the base game review: you have to sometimes jump between too many screens to compare and correlate various clues and here it's even more prominent due to additional time switching. On the other hand I liked that you don't have to identify the same people over and over in each case. The known people names will be readily accessible in the subsequent cases. The story linking these cases isn't so compelling, too.
