I have played various football games in my life. This one is probably the most arcade of all, and sadly it feels very undercooked.
First, the teams are 6 vs 6, which speeds up the gameplay considerably (and you can fairly easily sprint from your area to theirs, ESPECIALLY if you have the speed buff).
Some rules aren't there (no offsides, basically no fouls even when you use the button which seems to deliberately push down the adversaries), although it can still assign penalties (I don't know what's the rationale), and handles the ball being thrown outside as you would expect.
The biggest problem is the AI, both your teammates and that of the opponents. They are brain-dead. You can move your defender past the midfield and there is a non-trivial chance your attackers will be behind him, refusing to move forward (perhaps this is done to nerf them, since there is no offside, but it's really annoying at times). The enemies can sometime chase you in a conga line, never going for a tackle, and running past them or dodging them is astonishingly easy.
There is no tactic to speak of. Sure, you CAN corral the opponent into chasing you to free another attacker, but since your teammates are useless, and you can reach the goal regardless, there is no need for anything fancy. Long balls are much more imprecise than short ones too, so forget it.
The power-ups aren't fun. They are given seemingly at random, and some are MUCH better than others. Having the power shot is basically a guaranteed goal, being fast means the other team just can't stop you, while the super tackle is as useful as the regular one.
Controls feel a bit stiff, especially when you try to pass the ball as the goalie. If there are ways to tell the goalie to move back/forward when defending, I haven't found them.
You can't save in the middle of a cup event. Money for unlocks is too slow. Unlocks are just cosmetic.
I'd go find some old football games from the SNES or PS1 era, the offering is just much better.
