How did I miss this one? Flew right past me last year, and I didn't even notice!
Anyway, my kid and I are having an enchanted time playing through Ghost of a Tail together. I watch her as she voice acts all of the dialogue as she progresses through this amazing adventure, and then later surpassing her progress on my own save file, laughing at her that she has too much homework to be able to play right now and that I am a much better mouse bard/thief than she'll EVER BE! HAHAHAH!!
Yes, it's good.
Never would have thought I would give a game 5 Stars that has downsides with which I rarely put up.
But then, its cute, and lovely, I spent quite some time in the game, and it had me gripped for nearly the whole time.
The pacing changes sometimes - although there is nearly never a real time pressure - but the game explores different urgencies, has great characters, that you explore more than just in passing, and the same is true of the environment.
Its not a very big game world, but it works, and its wonderful to be able to experience such a wonderful crafted world more than just a little time.
And it has also to be said: I did not really encounter gamestopping or annyoing bugs. Sometimes a few holes in the world, which could be looked through, but thats all. Many major titles have much more problems in that area.
All in all, I would really like it if there were another, expanded game in this universe. Its just lovely.

A real, useful ending is missing
Its more like its an introduction for part two.
Thats just a bit sad after the rest of the adventure was that great.
And also there are a lot of quests that cannot be finished until you are further in the story. And there is no real indication for that. Thats something that annoyed me a bit.

Nice costumes, but you cannot finish most of them till you are close to the end.
The stealth mechanic is more or less made obsolete (if one wishes to) a bit into the game. There are some downsides to this, but still it would be much better if that wouldn't apply to all the enemies around.
Still, the downsides by far - in this case - do not warrant a removal of a star. Its just a great game.
I adored this game! I've been playing since early access, and it's amazing to see how far it's come since its first few versions, and so satisfying to play until the end now.
This is a wonderful blend of modern action-RPG (think The Witcher, Thief) and classic adventure games (I couldn't help but be reminded of the Dizzy series - some of my favourite games of all time) with gorgeous graphics that make it such a joy to play.
It's not the biggest game ever, and I seriously hope for a sequel or a DLC, but what's there is a meaty adventure with some really memorable characters (Kerold the Pirate Frog being my absolute favourite) and enough unique storylines and game mechanics to keep you coming back.
For such a small development team, this feels like a AAA game, and I really hope this isn't the last we've seen of SeithCG or Tilo.
Ghost of a Tale has a charming story, likeable characters and occurs in a beautiful world. However a lack of voice acting hinders immersion, the core gameplay is repetitive and devoid of challenge and the game is plagued by several bugs. If you go into it for the stealth gameplay you will probably be dissapointed. If you go into it for the characters and aesthetic then you will be pleased. A lot of potential but falls down when it comes down the execution.
