This is not Massive Assault 3!

Despite sharing the same engine and the misleading title, this is not a Massive Assault game. The mechanics are totally different. This is much more like a Panzer General game. The RNG affects whether or not you hit, armies suffer morale damage, artillery automatically returns covering fire for nearby troops, units are built at upgradeable bases, terrain provides defensive cover, infantry can occupy buildings, there is fog of war. There are no bordered nations, no secret allies. Unfortunately this game lacks Galactic Assault's bombastic music and over the top units for a more somber cold war-esque look to better match the source novel. It's a good game, but don't come in expecting it to play like Massive Assault

Turn-based warfare splendour

If you know Massive Assault title, you'll find yourself comfortable with this one. These were games that Wargaming company created before the infamous World of Tanks. Turn-based warfare at its best. Day/night cycle. Variety of units, tactics, strategies. Campaigns and scenarios are present. Aviation, artillery, infantry, mechanized assault, fortification, morale and all other traits and features are included, of course. This game is what Battle of Cronos should learn from. For its laughable price it is one of the best option turns-loving General would choose.

3rd time is a charm

This is my third attempt to have this go through. This is a turn based, tactical strategy game. The battle presentation and mechanics have similarities to the classics Battle Isle, Panzer General, while it also has similarities to Massive Assault. It is a fun game, but quite hard. It is not for those new to the genre, unless they are very good at other strategy games. If you like your strategy, hard and in a sci-fi setting, this is worth your time and money.

A hidden ex-soviet diamond

Strugatzky book was a well hidden attack against the totalitarian soviet regime: It displayed a very similar regime of 'Unknown Fathers' that used special electomagnetic waves affecting human brains to make the population follow their command without questioning. Modern Putin regime borrowed heavily from strugatzky's Prisoner of Power, using the Internet total misinformation almost as effective as the brainwashing radio waves in the si fi novel. The game does not touch any of these dark similarities from the past fiction to the reality. Instead it is using the names of some of the main characters and pretend to continue the story after the books somewhat "happy ending". In fact it has become a prophesy: After a collapse of the Unknown Fathers (at the end of the book), instead of a freedom, peace, and prosperity the country gets itself in a total war against its neighbours. Sounds familiar? Yep. Well, maybe in 2007 the authors of the game could not anticipate current unfortunate events. But somehow they managed to create a battle enviroment that shows very familiar pictures of today eastern-european fields of destruction. I just found this game a few days ago and since keep asking myself would I liked it so much if I played it in 2007? Maybe not.

galactic assalt prisone of power

failed to install ....only 2% downloaded and then says failed to connect to GOG servers..very dissapointed..lost 5.99$
