About the game
They took your freedom. It's time to take it back!
Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower. Take on the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber, and rise through the ranks of the resistance to prove yourself as a charismatic leader.
Liberate supplies, scavenge weapons and use the 'recruit and command' system to grow the resistance and lead up to 12 freedom fighters into strategic conflicts throughout the campaign. Travel across the city and complete interconnected missions where your actions in one level affect the battles in another.
Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive's cult classic is now available digitally in its original form for the first time.
About the soundtrack
The Freedom Fighters Soundtrack features 18 tracks that are produced by acclaimed music composer Jesper Kyd. Combining live choir performances by the Hungarian Radio Choir with techno beats and other electronic instruments, Kyd effortlessly captures the vibe of the game and the epic quest to liberate New York from a foreign superpower.

This game is worth every penny whether you have played it or not, or if it is on sale or not.
The controls are tight and the framerates are very solid. I have experienced zero issues playing this game, looks very crisp in 2k 16:9. The Combat is still very entertaining after all of these years. The simple but squad based mechanics add so much variation to the game that it adds a certain amount of replay value.
Great score and story! Even though its old, it still sucks you into its premise.
GOG did a fantastic job releasing this game. It runs absolutely beautifully, and revives and amazing forgotten game.
Enjoy fighting for freedom.
Having never played this game when I was younger but hearing about it I decided to give it a go. Gameplay wise its fun and graphics aren't bad for its time, refreshing to play a retro action game that isn't a FPS.
But where it falls down is its story. You can tell right off the bat this story was written for the braindead Red Dawn crowd, with over the top cliched Russian villains and moronic plot points that would make Michael Bay blush.
Fun overall just resist the temptation to skip the cutscenes to avoid the sheer dairy that is the dialogue
The game is shooting and shooting endless enemies making it a very mediocre and repetitive experience. Its mechanics do not help either. The shooting feels really bad with bullets going where ever they want and the way you control the freedom fighters is very poor (you can only give them 3 orders and that is all. You can't change their weapon or customize the way they behave in combat.
Overall i don't recommend this game. If you play 2 hours is like playing the whole campaign.
