About the game
They took your freedom. It's time to take it back!
Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower. Take on the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber, and rise through the ranks of the resistance to prove yourself as a charismatic leader.
Liberate supplies, scavenge weapons and use the 'recruit and command' system to grow the resistance and lead up to 12 freedom fighters into strategic conflicts throughout the campaign. Travel across the city and complete interconnected missions where your actions in one level affect the battles in another.
Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive's cult classic is now available digitally in its original form for the first time.

The Freedom Fighters Soundtrack features 18 tracks that are produced by acclaimed music composer Jesper Kyd. Its an ok game. I remember playing this when it came out and freaking loving it. It was the first game i played with squad controls. Had been play Red Alert 2 and this game felt like the FPS American side of that. Its good to play for the day and walk down memory lane. But it not amazing game, but fun.
Used to play this on my PIII 900mhz and Geforce4Ti 4200 when I was a freshman in highschool. Never thought I'd be playing it on max settings with a office PC connected to a 32" 1080p monitor.
First time playing on PC and it was as I remembered, great game, cool story, great music, interesting and unique mission and consequence stucture(destroy chopper pad in a mission so you don't get harrassed by it in others etc) which I've never seen repeated, funny ragdoll physics. Highly recommend this game. No issues everything played great from the start.
It's not ambitious 3'rd person shooter by any means and maybe that's a good thing.
You just go from point to point, mission to mission, shoot commies and experience minimum required storytelling to tie it all together.
Trying it after two decades brings a tear to my eye but man... I did not remember it being this barebones xD
Still there is some fun to be had.
If you want to experience some old-school title for nostalgia kicks, go ahead.
Just don't buy it at full price. It's on sale frequently.
2$ is what it is worth.
