About the game
They took your freedom. It's time to take it back!
Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower. Take on the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber, and rise through the ranks of the resistance to prove yourself as a charismatic leader.
Liberate supplies, scavenge weapons and use the 'recruit and command' system to grow the resistance and lead up to 12 freedom fighters into strategic conflicts throughout the campaign. Travel across the city and complete interconnected missions where your actions in one level affect the battles in another.
Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive's cult classic is now available digitally in its original form for the first time.
About the soundtrack
The Freedom Fighters Soundtrack features 18 tracks that are produced by acclaimed music composer Jesper Kyd. Combining live choir performances by the Hungarian Radio Choir with techno beats and other electronic instruments, Kyd effortlessly captures the vibe of the game and the epic quest to liberate New York from a foreign superpower.

One of my all time favorites from childhood. Simple yet complex enough. I love starting on a map and running into some difficulty, like an attack chopper, and then going through the sewers to another map to blow up the chopper refueling site which then makes it much easier to progress on the previous map. That's basically the core of the game and its great. Maps arent overly huge but you are rewarded for exploration with supplies or a more covert route that gives you the jump on the enemy. I love the story although I think some of that is nostalgia, it is still entertaining in its own right. This game really deserved a sequel or at least a remaster/remake. This GOG version runs perfectly and looks great though!
Its a cool concept. and given its release, i think they managed to give you the feeling of a rebel pretty darn well. If only it would have sold more and we would have seen this concept elaborated upon.
I had this game back in the 2000's and it maybe nostalgia glasses but I still have fun with it.
The campaign is a few hours long, and can be a little rough compared to newer shooters, but the map design and ability to command followers make up for the simple shooting mechanics.
If you like Red Dawn you'll love this game.
the game is a 3th person shooter, besides shooting and gun blazing it has early tatic command for troops and a great storyling that capture your iner freedome fighter.
It´s a eddidos game and have been one of my favorite games along with their other games of code 47 playing assasin. ^^
Playing Freedom Fighters on the PS2 is a core memory for me. It was one of the first games I replayed over and over from that generation and having it on GOG is incredible. Combat still holds up (if a bit bullet spongey) and the story is simplistic but entertaining. MOVE OUT!
