When Jessica finds Jack again, Jack is not there. His character model is missing entirely. Ghost Jack goes through a door and then Jessica starts limping through walls and objects. No way to control anything. Only pause works to exit the game. After the tedious slow-walking to finally get to that point, it was pretty disappointing to have to game just stop working.
I want to prefeace by saying I have no issue with "Walking Simulators" as long as the narrative, characters and story beats are compelling
This narrative adventure game fails every aspect of this basic criteria. The story itself lacks any impact and fails to establish any true stakes. The outcome of worst case scenario is never shown so you don't really know what the big deal is. The voice acting feels phoned in and predictable. The dialogue is generic slop full of memorable quotes from other movies because the writters lacked the intelligence to create their own.
The gameplay is minimal. You get to interact with things but to progress, you have to do so in the set order dictated. There's no thinking outside the box or getiing ahead by cleverly working it out yourself. Then there's the occasional random jumpscare QTE. The QTE button promts will flash on screen with no warning giving you one second to respond and even if you do it will occasionally fail for no good reason. These will often happen during dialogue scenes. If you want to try over, you'll have to sit through the dialogue again as there's no way to skip it.
Overall, this is a vacuous experience. Even when you figure out the great mystery, it such a bland concept, you won't actually care.
